The Cowboys are $54M over the cap?

Did I miss something??????? What happened to the savings from NOT signing Micah????

That's before they officially exercise built in restructures for Dak, CeeDee, Tyler Smith, Osa, etc. and are actually around $57 million under the cap. Cutting Diggs, Donovan Wilson, Hooker, etc. can put them over $80 million under.

But no worries, Stephen will still cry poverty.

To me it is not about being cheap. All teams work with the same amount.
And if they are really that cheap, why is there always cap issues.
If cheap, they should be under the cap by the allowable margin every year.

So it is not being cheap. It is they do not know how to manage it well. That is the biggest issue.
It is being cheap. They are cheap with their staff and they are cheap with actual cash spending on players.

They use the cap to claim poverty.

That much over the cap with no sniff of the playoffs is gross mismanagement

The real point is that quality coaching and quality front offices can build excellent teams despite basically any type of obstacle.

Next year, sure all teams can use restructures and get compliant but the Chargers for example have put a system in place, gathered players that fit it, trained them to run it, fostered an atmosphere of winning and now they don't have to cut or restructure a single player next year and have a huge surplus to spend to properly fill the gaps.

Denver same, Rams same, and they didn't use a maxed out cap as a crutch for not doing so.

Harbaugh - Chargers, with their QB signed, will have 101 million for next year. Took the job with a horrendous cap situation, winning despite all the dead money and on their 4th and 5th OTs

McVay - Rams, everyone knows the cap hole they dug/are digging out of, 80 million next year.

Payton - Broncos, shedding all that crazy dead money for Wilson, No.1 seed in the AFC with a 2nd year QB, 40 million next year.

It's amazing what can be done with the right people.
Outstanding post.

Your first post was spot on and this one continues that.
Really good stuff man.

Dak Prescott holding bags of cash.

Maybe the Eagles roster has players worthy of that strategy and it has produced results but I don't see too many of this roster worth pushing money into future years for.
Tyler Smith, Pickens, Lamb, Williams, for now, we need another scheme and an edge rusher to really evaluate players. EberFluff isn't going to get what he wants here, as far as personnel. So we need someone who gets what they need here and there, but someone who can work with some of the pieces we already have.

They should be 32M over the cap to start 2026. But unfortunately, they'll have to restructure Dak, which will erase the entire 32 million. Then another 15M restructuring Lamb. Releasing Diggs and Steele gets another 21M, and so on. This is why they cannot tag Pickens.

few restructures and bam we have 40M space....its typical...because money keeps getting pushed to the future.

I think just dumping digs will save 10M....
cap will go up by 15M and that's 25M already.

rework a couple of contracts and viola
Every other team can do the same, so it’s all relative. Some teams start out preparing for the 2026 season better, financially, than the Cowboys. The advantage is real.

You'd think that someone in that front office would recommend getting some help with the cap like a consultant...but no.

They’ll have tens of millions available once the seasons over and they get ready for next year. Just click bait for the haters to go nuts. (Not you!)
So already back to calling other people haters? 48 hours after becoming a quitter and a week or so after hating all Cowboys that are not named Dak (to reference two threads you started)? Never learn will you.

Dude the the Eagles are poster Childs for boy years they have the most money pushed out The Cowboys have way less than that but people around here keep saying they should do more of that be like the Eagles now you're complaining that they may possibly have to keep up with the Joneses pun intended they literally all teams do this They're running up credit cards they're getting other credit cards to pay for credit cards they're using credit card checks to pay credit card bills blah blah blah yes circumventing the cap it's not a new thing we're all very aware of it...

When this season started the Cowboys were right in the middle of void year use the Eagles were number one and there wasn't even anyone half as close..

Robbing Peter to pay Paul is a normal thing in a capped league maybe they ought to remove the cap..

They're the only truly hard capped league that I know of I mean baseball doesn't really have a cap does it NBA has a soft cap that you can circumvent with luxury taxes and all that other stuff I don't know what the NHL does but really I mean all these damn owners are now multi billionaires I tell Jerry Jones is like 7th in his net worth compared to the rest of the league he's not even number one so everyone wanting parity it has arrived and that ship has sailed..

I don't see how the league hasn't looked into this anyway if they're going to allow teams to keep pushing money down the road and take advantage of fake void years and be paying all this dead cap money..

just get rid of the cap already....
Jerry is in the top 119 richest people in the world.
