The Cowboys are $54M over the cap?

We can cut him today and have no dead money.

He’s been terrible.

There are still fans including him in sentences like “adding Williams and Wilson solidified the run defense”
Logan Wilson is terrible but I was talking about Donavan Wilson being a FA. We have to upgrade both LB and safety

Sorry, my bad.

Wilson has been one of our better DBs, not that it’s high praise.

He’s also making decent bank, so he’s certainly at risk

They'll just push money in the future ... and 30 more years of no Super Bowl.

I've STILL got a sour taste in my mouth for the non-signing of Derrick Henry.
Still.
I honestly believe he was theirs for the taking. They listened only to the voices in their heads. I doubt money/cap space was really the issue.
So if it's so easy for Jethro & company to "create" cap space it must be just as easy for all other teams as well. Then why can't/don't the Cowboys make any big splashes in Free Agency?
Answer:
They simply refuse to do so. It goes against their self-imagined proficiency of the draft.

I think it’s time for 2 new safeties. Hooker still has a year left on his contract so hopefully we can replace one this year, one next. But it’s hard to draft a starter quality safety in the 4th rnd. I wouldnt expect them to use a first unless downs got caught in pictures with a goat lol.

No, Henry picked the team that best suited his running game, both O-Line and (MVP) QB and had the free CAP Space to

You're looking at us through the 1990's lens where you think every player just wants the 'Boys.

Yes, there's a conservative aspect to the CAP, based on always looking into the future extensions because the Jones', pre-2025 ALWAYS RE-SIGNED THEIR OWN Draft Picks (due to how they ran the roster through the draft .....and NEVER able to trade/re-tool).

Someone in the organisation is more interested in the obsession with compensation Draft Picks.....HOWEVER..... when you need:
RT (if we cut Steel)
RB
CB x2 (when we cut Diggs)
Safeties x2
LB
Edge

....... you're not going to shop in the gourmet section, The idea that some have that we can get Elite FA and double down on the same position in the draft is just as fanciful. JERRY is more likely to patch holes, Draft for need and save some CAP in the forlorn eventuality that we're in with a Play-off shout at the trade deadline.
