The 3rd point was a good thought Hostile. You know the more and more I think about it, I come up with this conclusion.

Remember, how reports were in 2007 that the Cowboys didn't practice at all in pads at all in November and December. You have to keep your body tuned in pro football right?

Next, remember last year near the end of the season, reports were that Tony Romo's practice habits at the end of the year weren't great. Even Romo said something like, I am going to try to stay in shape throughout the year.

Also, Nate Newton said that the week leading up to the playoff game against the Giants, that to him, the offensive linemen didn't do their cardivacular work etc, to stay in shape.

Maybe that's part of it, that the Cowboy players aren't that soley interested at the end of the year, to keep their nose to the grindstone, and stay in shape. Maybe the trainer isn't pushing them as much, as well as the coaches.

What do you think buddy?

We Need Wade to Kick Down That Dad-Gum Wall this year!!!!

Consistently we've been better and our personnel has been better. But the Steales have had far better coaching -- CONSISTENTLY -- THAT IS THE KEY.

Landry got senile and with the exception of the Jimma years, we have sucked since the early mid-80s. That is a fact!
THE KEY? Coaching. And we have not had it, even during Fat Boy's reign in Dallas.

Back when Wade's daddy was coaching the Oilers he took them to the AFC Championship and lost to the Steelers. Steelers went on to beat us in Super Bowl XIII thanks to Fred Swearingen. I swear I'm not still bitter about that, I'm just still bitter about it.

The next year Bum took the Oilers to the AFC Championship again, and again lost to the Steelers. The game was a little closer though.

In the Press Conference after that loss I have never forgot what he said. This is not exact quotes but danged close.

"Last year we knocked on the door. This year we beat on it. Next year we're gonna kick the sum ***** in."

That's what I want this team to do. Kick the blasted thing in. Kick the wall down. Kick other teams in the nads. Kick idiots off the team. Don't stop kicking until rigor mortis sets in and they stop kicking.

I think Hostile's write up should be posted in the locker room (blown up to ten foot poster) and hung all around the locker room. Every player should have to read that every day and own his conditioning and performance.

Great write up Hostile. The players should be reminded of this all year long.

Excellent post! I enjoyed the read and I agree that we've got to get over that darned wall and shut people up. They need to do it so that they can mentally get beyond that stuff and also it would pretty much put an end to all the ammo any stupid Commanders or Eagles fan has when they want to open their mouths.

I posted this in another thread but it seems more appropriate here so I am posting my rant again.

Funny, this is the first time since 1961, when I went to an exhibition season game against the Packers in the Cotton Bowl, that I have cared little or nothing about how the team does this year. That's Jerry's problem of his own creation, not mine. I have simply quit caring.

After 15 years of losing and late season failures since Jerry got jealous of Jimmy and chased him off, took full credit for everything and hoarded all the glory to himself, I have finally had enough. I no longer care whether they win, lose or just quit as has become their way of late.

As with all Cowboys fans, my best hope is to outlive Jerry but since I am a few years older than he is, my chances aren't as good as most on this board.

Luckily my TV set got wiped out by a storm a few months ago and I no longer feel compelled to watch this bunch of people go lacadaisically through the motions. I can afford a new TV, I just don't yet want one but it's only been about three months now and I don't miss TV at all.

Actually, I would like to care but I just don't see any reason why I should put myself out for a bunch of people who don't put themselves out for anyone or anything except big paychecks and partying.

Billionaire Jones flushing the toilet this spring gives rise to a new wave of hope for this year but the question that hangs over us all is will the players really care whether they win or lose this year or is this yet another in a long line of false hopes?

Life is good - win, lose, tie or just quit - as in last year. I still haven't recovered from that disaster and I doubt I ever will but I also doubt I will ever care anymore. After all, last year is what I have come to expect from Jerry Jones' team.

PS - I hate to keep posting negative things but how can one stay positive in view of the last 15 years, especially when one knows what it takes to be a champion? I was a state champion athlete in my youth but during the last 15 years I have watched this team just quit doing the things that build champions and I see few signs of change coming, though, hopefully, Jerry flushing the toilet this spring is such a sign. Time will tell and I'm in no hurry.

and with all that said, that's a you thing, it has nothing to do with Jerry, you made the decision, don't blame your attitude on anyone but you, you did it.

With all due respect Bob, I think you care very deeply. Like many of us, you're just frustrated.

After 15 years of losing and late season failures since Jerry got jealous of Jimmy and chased him off, took full credit for everything and hoarded all the glory to himself, I have finally had enough. I no longer care whether they win, lose or just quit as has become their way of late.
One of the problems here is that we haven't had 15 years of losing. 15 years hasn't even gone by since our last Super Bowl.

After the 1995 season we won a Super Bowl. This is year 15. In the meantime though you and I have a very different definition of a winning season.

We've had 7 winning seasons since that Super Bowl. 1996, 1998, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, & 2008. 4 straight winning seasons. We also had one season in that stretch that is our only one ever at 8-8, 1999, and we made the playoffs. In fact we've somehow made the playoffs 5 times in this stretch that you are calling "losing seasons." Losing teams don't make the playoffs.

Now some mouth breather is going to immediately think that the 9-7 seasons don't mean anything. Winning seasons damn sure meant something when Tom Landry led us to 20 in a row. Do I really need to show the records for some of those "winning seasons?" I can you know. Can spout them right off the top of my head. Some are just like 2008.

I think sometimes we lose perspective of just how hard this game really is.

As with all Cowboys fans, my best hope is to outlive Jerry but since I am a few years older than he is, my chances aren't as good as most on this board.
It's so bad you think about death?

Is there a couch somewhere nearby and a guy with a pad and pencil? I think you need to unburden yourself to someone.

Maybe a bar with a good listening bartender?

Luckily my TV set got wiped out by a storm a few months ago and I no longer feel compelled to watch this bunch of people go lacadaisically through the motions. I can afford a new TV, I just don't yet want one but it's only been about three months now and I don't miss TV at all.

I suppose I could disagree with this more than I do right now, but I honestly don't see how. How many players got injured in 2008? You think they got injured by "not putting themselves out?" Seriously?

I think you need to re-assess your definitions. The results may not be what any of us want, but those men bled and sweat and hurt for you and me and all of us.

Billionaire Jones flushing the toilet this spring gives rise to a new wave of hope for this year but the question that hangs over us all is will the players really care whether they win or lose this year or is this yet another in a long line of false hopes?
This is a fair question even though it is tinged with petty jealousy over the wealth of Jerry Jones. He did get rid of the crap. Will that work? Damn man, that's what we all want to know and why we're excited.

You can't get excited about football? Might as well castrate yourself too. Football is the ultimate excitement along with sex.

Life is good - win, lose, tie or just quit - as in last year. I still haven't recovered from that disaster and I doubt I ever will but I also doubt I will ever care anymore. After all, last year is what I have come to expect from Jerry Jones' team.
That may be the most depressing thing I ever read. Honestly the only thing that comes close is the list of the dead after 9/11. Is there a rain cloud over your head everywhere you go?

PS - I hate to keep posting negative things but how can one stay positive in view of the last 15 years, especially when one knows what it takes to be a champion? I don't care about the negative stuff as long as it is real. I'm sorry to tell you Bob that this rant isn't real. It's bordering on piss poor.

Many of the teams "character" issues were addressed (dismissed from team) this off-season which should help the overall chemistry. I hope this helps the players stay focused, in shape, and driven late in the year.

Jerry & Co. still must address the aging offensive line and the ability for backups to step up and take over...many of these guys have been around long enough to step in and start but they all seem to be falling short. Why is it that this management team can not draft quality starting offensive lineman or wide receivers...? We overpay in FA to get these guys.

Jerry should do a recruiting search for the best talent scouts/coaches in these areas and add a few to the team. We obviously need help and a new approach.

A lot of good comments in this thread. People show how dedicated they are to the team and care deeply about it.

But Hos .... can you skip the chick flick analogies? I am just glad you didn't find something meaningful in "Sex in the City".

C'mon Hos, man up and find a John Wayne metaphor, will ya?

Now that's good advice right there.

notherbob....if you really didn't care anymore then you wouldn't have spent all that time trying to convince everyone, including yourself, that you didn't care by making that post.

You wouldn't still be trying to get over last season, you'd simply be over it cause you don't care anymore.

The fact that you're on a cowboys message board, telling everyone how you don't care anymore, and how despite the fact that you don't care anymore you're still not over last season proves that you care a whole heck of a lot more than you want to admit.
