The Cowboys on the Brink Of Greatness

this team is on the brink of greatness. I know Parcells would never say that but i know him and Jerry feel this privatly . This team is still molding and gelling together, much like the 91 team which went 11-5. We all know what happen the following year. Guys Im telling you once this team can come together and the players get to that comfort level at there respected positions and with each other, they will take off. Keith Davis , is a player with tremedous athletic talent, who is also a very solid tackler, to me once he gets the more mental part down of his position his natural skills will take over. I say by week 8, you will see the secondary vastly improve because of this. Canty, Spears, Ware, Ratcliff,Brunett, are all rookie players that are vital in this defense's growth and ability. Right now they too are still working out the mental wrinkles of there positions, but You can see already there starting to come along. Canty had a great game last week, ware has posted sacks in back to back games, ratcliff came in and had half a sack, burnett is getting heathly, spears is improving. Again by week 8 I see these guys being players. You see once this defense gets alittle more experience , and a tad bit more mentally sound, there going to take off. I WILL BET THE FREAKING HOUSE RIGHT NOW , DALLAS FINISHES AS A TOP FIVE DEFENSE THIS SEASON.

On offense this team is trying to find its idenity. The playing calling has been solid, I think payton is mixing it up well. I think the trouble they run into is going to the well alittle to often in certain key circumstances. I think though as the season goes on this teams offense will gell. It takes alittle while for qbs to get adjusted to there new wr's and te's . You watch how well witten does the rest of the year. I just think this offense has shown the ability to get it done, and can win if the defense falters.This team just needs to build some steadfastness .


Im seeing a 10-6 season fellas and ladies, with us really taking off in 2006.

Parcells is doing a great Job, this will be evident when the music is over.

I can sense that Parcells knows he has a very good team once they learn the system and gain chemistry.

It just seems like Bill has a quiet confidence about this team. All the pieces are in place, now the team just needs to gel. If we can get into the playoffs, we can do some serious damage.

For me, there's only one missing ingredient, and that's a punt returner. If we could consistently get good field position when our defense holds, we could actually dominate some games.

It's a little easier to be patient when you know that you really have something for the future. I know everyone here is quickly running out of patience, and while the losses are frustrating, I just get the feeling that Bill expected this to a point. But I think he also knows what can happen when these young players take off and when everyone gets comfortable with what's being done.

Well i hope you live in a trailer cause Vegas is a'waiting......

This is an 8-8 team +/- 2 wins based on luck and injuries. Now i wish just as bad as anyone that we were a serious contender but reality always comes knocking when i get my hopes up.

We are 2-2, could be 4-0, 3-1, 1-3 or 0-4..... all close games that could have changed completely on one play. So 2-2 seems fair and accurate. IMO, we are 1-3 if Gates played week 1 but we will never really know. It seems like this team will play to level of its competition each week.... played well at SD, like crap at SF, and decent against WAS until the last couple of minutes. Oakland is tough one to decipher, as i'm not sure how good they actually are (Janikowski cost them a W at Philly). The law of averages would seem to favor a so-so season if this trend continues. We will beat some good teams (hopefully Mcfagg & Co.) we will also lose a few. Same with bad teams, win some, lose some.

Defense? Something is still missing here like a Woodson presence and leadership in a key position. Yeah, the rookies look promising, but are NOT impact players yet. Ware holds up everytime he has a lane to the QB, like he is afraid of getting flagged. Our ran defense has been pitiful the last 2 games. You would think that would be a #1 priority with Parcells and probably is. They just aren't getting it done. Davis will never be a good cover safety. Period. Good hitter, great ST'er, but a weakness that will be exploited continuously. Roy's not great in coverage either so: can't stop the run or the pass. Yes, we look good at corner, but good Offensive teams will exploit the weak spots. The D will improve barring injuries, and WILL create some turnovers for a change, but it is not top-8 material this year.

Offense? Bledsoe is OK, good enough to win most of the time. JJ is running like he is afraid of making a mistake. Not the same back as last year. Not even close. His fear of Parcells has made him change his approach, ie. driving into the line for an extra yard or 2 instead of cutting and juking for big play potential. The O-line: blech! The immense talent on the Left side is so overrated it makes me puke. How many times to FLozell and Larry screw up during a game? Penalties, missed assignements, fast rushers blowing right by. These guys seem dumb as bricks to me and at times lazy. Potential doesn't win games, neither do those 2 bozo's. Johnson seems undersized at times but so was Stepnoski, so he should suffice. Rivera seems to to be the real thing, and Petitty is a rook that is doing ok, but still a rook. Gonna need backup against Kearse i believe. The offense will go as the O-line goes: erratic!!! Never know what to expect, and that will continue all year. Our recievers are good enough, good depth at RB, our fullback sucks. Better find a good fullback that catch, run and block next year.

this team is on the brink of greatness. I know Parcells would never say that but i know him and Jerry feel this privatly . This team is still molding and gelling together, much like the 91 team which went 11-5. We all know what happen the following year. Guys Im telling you once this team can come together and the players get to that comfort level at there respected positions and with each other, they will take off. Keith Davis , is a player with tremedous athletic talent, who is also a very solid tackler, to me once he gets the more mental part down of his position his natural skills will take over. I say by week 8, you will see the secondary vastly improve because of this. Canty, Spears, Ware, Ratcliff,Brunett, are all rookie players that are vital in this defense's growth and ability. Right now they too are still working out the mental wrinkles of there positions, but You can see already there starting to come along. Canty had a great game last week, ware has posted sacks in back to back games, ratcliff came in and had half a sack, burnett is getting heathly, spears is improving. Again by week 8 I see these guys being players. You see once this defense gets alittle more experience , and a tad bit more mentally sound, there going to take off. I WILL BET THE FREAKING HOUSE RIGHT NOW , DALLAS FINISHES AS A TOP FIVE DEFENSE THIS SEASON.

On offense this team is trying to find its idenity. The playing calling has been solid, I think payton is mixing it up well. I think the trouble they run into is going to the well alittle to often in certain key circumstances. I think though as the season goes on this teams offense will gell. It takes alittle while for qbs to get adjusted to there new wr's and te's . You watch how well witten does the rest of the year. I just think this offense has shown the ability to get it done, and can win if the defense falters.This team just needs to build some steadfastness .


Im seeing a 10-6 season fellas and ladies, with us really taking off in 2006.

Parcells is doing a great Job, this will be evident when the music is over.

This team isn't in the same class as the '91 Cowboys. Back then we had an emerging all-pro QB, a true go-to #1 WR in Irvin and the reigning rookie of the year in Emmitt (at least here there could be some comparison as JJ's rookie season was equally as impressive as Emmitt's.) Furthermore, this year's draft might be strong, but I don't see it as being in the same league as a draft that produced: Maryland, Harper, Dixon Edwards, Erik Williams, Leon Lett and Larry Brown. I hope you're right but I can't share your optimism just yet.

I think if we stay healthy we will have a very good Defense by the end of the year...now with the early struggles I do not know if it will allow them to be a top 5 D by the end of the season.

It takes time to get so many young people on the same page and I think we have the talent in place and in the offseason upgrade the FS and some LB positions (al should be gone, Brady will probably be gone and we do not know if Burnette will stay healthy).

With Newman and Henry in the backfield along with roy playing SS.
With Canty and Spears possibly molding into quality DEs.
Ware and Burnette (if he stays healthy)

That's 7 young players on the D with 4 of them Rookies.

If they stay healthy and continue to grow I do think this will be a good to great defense.

It is just going to take some time and growing pains.

I think we are headed in the right direction but we are still 2 years away from being a true playoff team. We still have issues at quarterback, our secondary and our offensive line. I like the way BP drafts but I wish he would stop signing his "Parcells guys"

I understand your enthusiasm. But so far the coaching and play calling has been subpar so say the least. If things doesn't change in that area I don't see us having a year like that.
