Now I’m not a football expert, but I don’t get it. What happened?
For some reason mid last year this offense started sucking, and they still do. Now, I’m not going to force my opinion into this thread, but I’ll say this - I’m not a Dak homer, but I don’t think it’s entirely a Dak problem. I wish he was Brady but I’m taking him all day over a few of the starting QBs in this league. Teams can do worse, and have had success with worse, than Dak Prescott. I’m not saying he’s not partially to blame; he is - but I don’t think he’s entirely to blame. And say what you will about Garrett and Linehan... but the offense has never struggled like this under Garrett before. Or under Linehan in any of his previous NFL stops. Obviously Garrett and Linehan deserve blame for these pathetic performances. But that’s not the point of this thread.
If you look at his game by game statistics, Dak suffered a noticeable drop off week in 10 last season. That doesn’t seem like a young QB starting out hot and then slowly performing worse like we’ve seen in the NFL before. The offensive struggles happened practically overnight. And statistically, it’s not just Dak, it’s everyone. The OL got worse. The running game got worse. Every facet of the offense.
And it’s not like some big offensive scheme was exposed. They’re running the same offense they’ve ran for years, which has had its faults, but was always better than this garbage like we saw today.
Some people say that the Atlanta game “exposed” Dak or got into his head. I don’t necessarily believe that. If you watched Dak in college, he played with some absolutely atrocious offensive lines. And he was usually decent under pressure. And statistically in the NFL, Dak had been good under pressure... up until week 10 last year.
So zoners, what happened? What the hell happened during that Atlanta game?
