I've heard a lot of people complain about the D and the truth is this:

This is 2009 football, not 1980 football.

Teams score at an inordinately high rate when they must at the end of games. They have all the advantages in the rulebook and in having their entire playbooks open to them.

Defenses generally do not just shut people down late. Not even defenses that have been dominant all day. Much less defenses that have been solid but not making any big plays.

Calling for more aggression after 7.75 quarters of sackless football makes no sense.

With about 8 mins left to go in that game I knew the team that had the ball last would win. And I knew when we scored we left too much time on the clock and thus would probably lose.

The Giants came down, ate up all the clock and won.

If we had burned a bit more clock instead of taking the quick 7 we'd have won. But that means the running backs accepting less yardage than was allowed. It means running clock intentionally and then using that big OL to push through when it mattered with a minute or less left.
