The Dak Controversy

I just listened to Romos interview on the Ben and skin show from a couple years ago. He said he doesn't give a crap about winning a SB for another team, he wants it for dallas. Give him the chance!

Uhh...I haven't read any such hyperbole about Romo. Romo isn't going to go into a game not throwing a pass since August. He's been throwing the ball since he could and since his injury healed he's been running teams in practice for over four weeks now. He isn't getting out of a hospital bed and suiting up.
true but that is not the same as a real game which is much faster and guys will actually be hitting him.
I dont think anyone who has been out for 10 games or more can just step right in and play like they would if they had been playing.
They have to get back into it, especially at QB.

So I say let him play against tampa, just dont wait till a playoff game.

1. Its not ridiculous.

2. You have no idea what our record would be with Romo. For all you know, we would be undefeated. Its called counter-factual history.

3. If Dak rights the ship and performs well on Sunday, he keeps his job. Its in his hands, not ours.

4. Still, you don't waste a best in the league record and HFA in the playoffs on a learning experience for a rookie--if that rookie is clearly struggling.

5. You play to win the game.
I love both players, I just want to win. A rookie QB has never done well in the Payoffs, but Dak is special and could be different. it will be interesting to see how this plays out. If we screw this up either way, it will be debated for generations.

were Niners fans this divided over Young and Montana? It's getting pretty heated. Crazy what 11-2 with a rook and a vet on the sidelines will do to a fanbase. Unbelievable. I hope we can come back together soon. Our base is too strong to let this break us. I love Dak and I love Romo. But I roll with who the organization rolls with right now.
As much as I believe Romo is a good qb and defended him, the best thing for this team moving forward after this year is to cut him or trade him. This argument will never end and it is detrimental to the fanbase and team.

My bad, I didn't realize this was a "lets train the new guy" year........I was under the impression we were trying to win a SB, something no rookie QB in the history of the NFL has ever done.

So everybody is cool with an early elimination for the playoffs, good to know.

Why not? We spent the bulk of the Romo years training Jason Garrett. Now we will spend the remainder training Romo's replacement.

Is ridiculous....

Some people need to let it rest. Two weeks ago we were talking about the guy being MVP of the league and now everybody wants to bench him, it's ridiculous. What happens if he comes out and throws for 300 yards and two touchdowns against Tampa? All of a sudden he's the MVP again, right?

I love Romo as much as the next man, but the page must be turned. There is no way we would be 11-2 if he was in. You mean to tell me Romo wouldn't have had a costly turn over at Pittsburgh? At Green Bay? At Minnesota? Come on now, we've watched that guy for 10 years win and lose us some big games.

Keep Dak in for the remainder of the season and if we lose in the playoffs, it'll be a learning experience for him. Romo is not always going to be the security blanket behind him and everybody has to realize that, including Dak. Let him go through some struggles and learn so he can come back better the following year.

We're going to be contenders for a really long time especially when we sure up that defense. This is not a one and done situation for us. Keeping Dak in will be better for the long-haul.

What if he starts off 0-5 on 3rd downs and 5 of 12 passing and 48 yds. I say "bring in ROMO!" Had ROMO not been coaching and preparing Dak all seasonong, Dak would not be Dak. Dak is in the MVP discussion because ROMO remains the real MVP.

We can't afford to have a rookie QB to start looking like a freakin' scrub backup Browns QB either.

Yet, a lot of you seem to be content with that.
Show me one other rookie qb that looks better than dak. From what I gather, you are not just saying he is a rookie who naturally would struggle his first year no matter how good he will be in future, you are saying he just sucks and got this far out of luck? Funny part is is Dak hasn't played like EVERY SINGLE ROOKIE QB EVER but actually way way better.

Sorry, but not only is it my opinion that you are wrong, but also my opinion that you are bad at evaluation talent and its potential. Disagree with me if you want, reply back and say so if you want, but my opinion is my opinion and not up for debate

Now I've heard everything. LOL

I think it is pretty simple here, from my end anyways. This next game against Tampa is the perfect test for Dak. He has a chance to overcome some adversity. This game will not be on the road, it will not be in freezing temps.....it will be at the place that our playoff games will be held(if all goes right).

He will be facing a playoff caliber defense, all things add up to a preview of an actual playoff game. I guess it could be considered a must-win if they want HFA, but it is not in reality.

Dak can shut up a lot of people Sunday night, just go out there and get the win. Heck, even if we lose and Dak looks a lot better.......that should suffice for many. I will feel more at ease if he looks like a competent QB out there even in a loss.

If he lays another egg, has bad mechanics and looks completely over-whelmed again, this team has little choice but to explore the Romo option. Dak will not face a more ideal scenario than this game to get a glimpse into what the playoffs would look like. If Dak can't perform in this game, I surely expect an early exit if he stays at the helm.

Like I have said, Romo is probably our best option but I do not know that for a certainty. He has been out quite awhile but if Dak can not get through this game and looks like a rookie who has hit that wall.........I say roll the dice on Romo if it becomes obvious that Dak can't get the job done this season.

I want Tony to get in there, not going to lie. But, I would not mind Dak getting this train back on track and take over for good while Romo finds a new team this Summer. I prefer that actually, just not sure how realistic it is to think that Dak is ready for this post-season.

Prove me and the many doubters out here wrong Dak........take this team by the horns and never relinquish!

Great post

I can show you plenty of rookie QBs that, this late in the season, didn't regress the way Dak has. Again, can't covert on third downs. Inaccurate. Won't use his legs. This is all with talent around him.

He looks like hot garbage.

its to late for tony to come in that should of been done when he was completely healthy but jerry and Jason let the press and the tv ratings make a choice on their qb that should of been made long ago a rookie has never won a superbowl and this one wont either they should of made known to dak that tony was coming back when he got healthy I fear that the new York giants or the packers will be the nfc team to go to the superbowl of course throwing away a 11 and 2 start and hft is par for the course for this organization and coaching staff to be the 5 or 6 th seed will be a disaster and led to a one and done it may be years before theyever get to this position again they are so frustrating to watch and be a fan of.

You mean a bunch of mediots were talking up Dak as a possible MVP as a ratings grab and a bunch of naive fans bought into it. That in itself is telling. Show me a QB league MVP that had a stretch run of 3 games of less than 200 yrds a game. Good luck ! I like Dak a lot but he was never a likely MVP candidate. Is he likely the future ? Yes. Are we glad to have him absolutely. But hes simply not ready yet he needs time. He should sit for awhile

He needs time to do what? Funny that during those 3 games, he won two of them. I guess it would have been better for him to toss for 400 yards and lose the game.

Why don't you show us some this year.

Unbelievable. I'm starting to think we, as a franchise, don't deserve to win. So incredibly wishy washy about everything.

Why don't you show us some this year.

Because the NFL didn't just start "this year"

Which is better

Your rookie QB starting hot and then regressing as the year goes on or starting cold and improving?

And it really has nothing to do with decision making. Rookie QBs will, at times, be confused by defenses. This is understandable. But when I see a QB regressing mechanically, losing the poise he had earlier (Makes me question his mental toughness), and becoming so inaccurate he can't complete a third down. You can overlook these problems as much as you like, I can promise you no matter what Garrett throws out, this continues and he'll be riding the bench.

the only controversy if the only thats made up by fans here. JG made it clear Dak is the guy

Longest run-on sentence. Ever.

Well pull out all of these rookies then. Bring up the large list of rookies who have won 11 in a row and lost 1 game, which is considered a slump.
