Galloway and the other minions on ESPN 1033 are in agrrement that Norv should be hired. As we all know Those guys live to bash the cowboys. If the team does well they can not bash them. Therefore they are championing someone they know will fail and give them ammo to bash Jerry for "living in the past"

If Randy Galloway says its a good move, you should do the opposite

I dunno, maybe Norv can come full circle, in Dallas he was a stud and maybe he can retire in a similar light.

Let's face the sad fact of the poorly managed franchises he was handed in Oakland and Washington, you can't work with Al Davis or Daniel Snyder and expect to progress.

Turner had FINALLY turned the Skins into a division champion and playoff team before Snyder went on a spending spree for geriatrics and fired him half way through the following year for not winning with hip replacements.

Then Snyder fired Marty who managed to go 8-8 with that sad bunch.

Norv can coach, he's not being asked to mess with the defense so he'll be fine.

theres no way that he should get the job, hes a good oc and a bad head coach, if your sole reason for hiring him is to develop romo then you cant do it, the guy just isnt a good head coach, you can go elsewhere to find someone to work with romo.

"Definitive" and "reason," you say?

Change the subject line to "a random not particularly compelling or rational opinion against the hiring of Norv Tuner" and I'll concede your point.

Norv's previous stints at HC were under unusually difficult circumstances. All things considered, I thought he did a respectable job in Washington, especially in comparison to the legendary Gibbs and the supposedly brilliant ol' football coach. I'd give him another chance, certainly over someone with only 2 yrs coaching experience.

But how come we have to be the one to see if he got raw deals or not?

Why didnt he get another HC gig for 4 years after the Skins one.. why was it then the Raiders?

Same with Wade. He's been in the NFL for 30 years. How come for only 5 of those has he been an HC when he's never hidden the fact he'd like to be one?

Other owners are capable at looking at more than just wins and losses at a previous gig, right?

I don't care about his circumstances

Apparently the players he played for didn't respect him. That has little to do with Norv's relationship with the owners and everything to do with his personality

If he can't command the respect of his players he can't be a head coach. This has been proven. He's not some hooker with a heart of gold. He sucks.

So who is going to handle the defense?

I appreciate the memories, Norv, but Emmitt, Troy and Michael aren't here.

That's certainly not the impression one gets from listening to Troy Aikman and Darryl Johnston. Besides, as we know from our past experiences with Jerry, sometimes a coach's inability to command respect is the result of organizational flaws in the structure of authority and not because of weak personality.

I'm not saying Norv is the answer but he has experience, seems to have respect of former Cowboys, and has a reputation as a "player's coach" which suggests that we shouldn't just dismiss him out of hand for the newest flavor of the month as some are doing.

I also don't care what Aikman says...or Moose for that matter, much as I like him

Norv's recent experience is the one that matters. And he sucked. That's all there is to it to me. I know it's a narrow way to look at it, I don't care.

We can talk ourselves into just about anything. But the numbers don't lie and neither does his resume

Agreed.

I honestly wish both would stop with the selling of Norv Turner.

Because I believe Jones is listening. And when Aikman gives him advice, it has NEVER been good for this franchise. Not for LaFleur. Not for Joey Galloway. Not for Jack Reilly. Not for firing Chan Gailey.

Randy Galloway likes and respects Norv Turner(for what he did in the 90s), thats why he thinks he would be a good hire.

Well I'm certainly not dismissing him for the new flavor of the month. Compared to Norv or Wade I'd rather have the oldest flavor of the month.. Reeves.

I happen to think he's twice the HC as both of those 2 put together.

HC is a decidedly different gig than OC/DC.

Thats why while those 2 have managed to hold HC jobs for about 14 out of their 50 years combined in the league, Reeves was one for 23 straight years.

Are you serious?

You are taking the sage advice of one of the biggest imbeciles in the sports journalism arena?

The same man who once suggested Todd Dodge?

Bowles and his assistants. Parcells thinks Bowles will be a headcoach one day, let's see his stuff.

Sorry, but that's too much "potential", not enough production.

Might as well since those "sure bets" like Parcells and Payton and long ago Zimmer idn't pan out as expected.
