The Eagles offseason so far

I'm convinced they were winning despite Nick and Patullo

Let's see, look at the big pic. The #1 D in the NFL just won the super bowl.(Last season, of course). Soooooooooooo, what should we do? Hey, I have an idea, let's let our D players walk!!! And then we'll depend on the 29th ranked passing Offense to win games for us!!!

Yaaayy, let's do that!!!!!!!

Well, if so, it's after a SB win and a second SB appearance.

I'll take it.
It wasn't him . I guess I'm saying he went along for the ride. It's clear he brings nothing to the table. He's just a cheerleader. I see not 1 player pound the table for him.

Lol exactly

Not dead but I wager this, they will likely struggle. Hurts running a Shannon style offense? Color me skeptical.
It was such a hack for them. I'd love to see the numbers detailing the drives extended by the tush push that resulted in points. I'd love to see the volume in which that happened and success rate compared to other teams.

Obviously they've been really good, but that's just an extra edge that contributed to their success that other teams couldn't replicate.

If this means the Tush Push is dead, then they're really going to take a step back.

Anyway, they'll bounce back in a few short years.
They’d be nothing without the tush push and sans one ring.

The league average was around 68% in 2025. The Eagles was around 61%.

They weren't much last year, but I wouldn't say they were nothing.

Time to out myself as an Iggles' fan. I post here (and also on a Giants' board) because it's fun to share information and swap opinions.

You won't (or I hope you won't) find me trolling.

As an older fan, I think my attitude might be a little different than most Iggles' fans. Since I never thought that the Birds would ever win a Super Bowl, I jokingly gave them 'five years' dispensation' after the first win.
Same holds true now. So, if we're in a transitional phase, so be it.

While it's early, it's clear that the Cowboys should be more competitive in the division. What I know, though, is that Lurie and Roseman will not sit idly by and accept a gradual decline.

Just my two cents.
The division is arguably the worst in the NFL. Perfect timing for an Eagles team in decline. Probably win the division with nine wins, NFC South style.

of course. Well, his salary is.

Eagles signed their death warrant when they paid him 55 mil/season.

Not just him, all QBs making around that amount. It's no accident that the salaries of the super bowl Qbs are 32 mil and 9 mil.
Hurts is $51 million per year, not $55 million. 10 NFL QB1s are paid a higher AAV, none of have ever won a Super Bowl. Only one of the ten have even played in one. Only two of the 10 are younger than Hurts. Neither by more than a year. He’s a bargain QB by NFL standards. He has the resume to prove it. And he’s not yet in his prime.

Dak Prescott is not a bargain QB by NFL standards. If a comparatively inexpensive quarterback is why teams are in the Super Bowl, an expensive one must be why a team isn’t.

The Eagles demise is Cowboys fans wishful thinking.

I think eventually in the next few years they will clean house and start over. They've done it before and was successful at it. I think they have such a dependable GM that they won't be sitting and let things implode. Things will get messy for a few years and will right their ship again after a complete overhaul.

I doubt pushing the ball carrier is outlawed. It happens in every game multiple times. Scrums now occur all over the field. Not just in short yardage situations.

Hurts is certainly overpriced. To think that he is suddenly going to become a gunslinger is just wishful thinking. Hurts has only excelled because his O-line gives him an eternity to throw and because of a very potent run game. Once the O-line falters, their entire offense goes down the drain. If the Eagles are ever going to get better, they will have to get rid of Hurts.

Dak may be quite expensive but I will take him over Hurts any day of the week.

They’re doing it now. They don’t wait to bottom out completely.

They are, but they’re losing sight of the basics when it comes to building the team the right way. Even Eagles fans are frustrated. Letting Parker walk didn’t sit well with them, and there’s real concern they might lose Fangio this year as well. On top of that, there isn’t much confidence in the new OC yet. As a result, their O-line coach is leaving.

My guess is that they will implode next year and get rid of everyone, including Hurts. Sirianni and Hurts are the main problems. They built their entire system around protecting Hurts’s weaknesses, and once that’s gone, they will have to start completely from scratch.

They have apparently figured out how to win with him. Before his contract ends he won’t even be in the top half of the league in quarterback compensation. He’s already not in the top ten.

You know the idiot who set a ridiculous standard for quarterback pay. Cowboys are saddled with the most expensive QB and it looks like that won’t change anytime soon. Stroud’s up for a deal next and Houston is not paying him $60 million per year.

Hurts plays his best when the stakes are highest. The opposite of Prescott. Dak doesn’t and won’t falter in playoff games anymore because he doesn’t and won't be playing in any.

I really don’t get the hype around Hurts. He’s not worth $51 million. Dak is overpriced too, but at least he’s proven to be a better QB. Hurts looks like a pretty average QB who benefits from having the best offensive line in the league, an elite running game, and two top‑tier receivers.

If we’re talking about system quarterbacks, Hurts fits that label perfectly. The Super Bowl win wasn’t because he carried the team — it was the defense that won them that title. Now that the defense has been stripped down, I don’t see them having the same kind of success next season.

If the Eagles struggle next year, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Sirianni and Hurts are both gone.

The head start Prescott gives the Cowboys at quarterback over the Eagles should make it easier to build a better team than the Eagles. How bad is Jerry that he squanders the talents of a superior QB while Philly manages to exceed with a mediocre one. How bad can Jerry possibly be ascertaining player talent and coaching talent that leaves Cowboys fans watching Hurts and worse, Head Coach Sirianni succeed.

And now the notion the difference for the Cowboys, what will take them from losers to winners, is the Eagles’ defensive backs coach. That’s it? That’s what will fix the Cowboys? A defensive backs coach is going to transform the Cowboys and make them a good team. I don’t think so. I think it’s going to take a lot more than one of the Eagles’ assistant coaches to get the Cowboys to a point where they’re competing with Seattle, LA Rams, Philadelphia.

Instead of Brazil the Cowboys need to play in Disney World. That’s where this kind of fantasy belongs.
