The entire Defense needs to be called out

No doubt the pick six hurt. But what about the 20 other points? When we needed a stop in overtime they started at the 15 yard like on a first and 15. The defense allowed them to go 85 yards. Why because they were out of gas and unprepared. Sure the offense sucks. But we all knew that was going to happened when we lost Romo. The defense has NO excuse. Accept for the weak ones your trying to bring up that don't hold water.

When it's mattered more sit in the fourth....they have failed.

What do you expect to happen? You can't just ask a defense to hold over four quarters. Especially against high octane offenses. 20 points should be enough to win a game. No the defense isn't elite, but they still have held up pretty well during this streak. The offense has been putrid and that's being kind. You can't score in this league you can't win. Simple as that.

I say call out Hot Rod. I don't know why he refuses to blitz when his four "rushman" can't get home.

the offense played as best as ive seen them with a backup QB on sunday night. Cassell had his best game as a Cowboy (sans 1 TO). Its always one thing or another. Defense plays good/well enough Offense can't score a TD. Offense plays decent and defense turns into swiss cheese in the 4th.

True offense has been pretty bad with a backup QB but this past sunday they played the best we've seen them with a backup QB and we still couldn't win.

This sh*ts on Jason Carrot. Romo or no Romo. If he can't get his team to play a full 4qtrs than what good are his speeches really?

It looked like Hardy was going to be the inforcer and hold people accountable. I doubt that will happen now that Jerry and son and talked to him about being a kinder, gentler Cowboy that we love. So he too will start going thru the motions and collecting a check and being a "good boy." Playing with heart and passion doesn't pay any more when you a Cowboy.

That excuse was good last week. The offense won the time of possession and score 27 points. The defenses has failed to make a stop at the most crucial times in the 4th quarter on several games. The offense has been has struggled without Romo and Dez. It's times like these that you need the defense to step up. So far they have failed in the 4th quarter every game.

Yep. Offense played well. Running game and passing game was solid. Only mistake was that pick 6. Offense scored enough points to win. The defense has given up a long TD in the first drive of both of the overtime games this season.

Posts like this make me scratch my head. They showed a very telling graphic in yesterdays game. And that was yards and points by quarters for the defense. This defense gives this offense 3 quarters to win the game. They basically give up minimal in the first 3 quarters. But to anybody who watches the game and remembers after for the first 3 quarters in every game this yr, the defense has given the offense the chance to run away with every single game. Even that Patriots game. Dallas defense dominated until late in the 3rd quarter. They get gassed because this offense cant sustain drives. You cant keep sending your defense out there with 3 and outs and expect them to hang for 4 quarters. This defense is ranked 14th in the nfl. And thats with a horrible offense. Thats pretty amazing. I dont think people realize just how bad this team has been on offense. Clearly this poster doesnt. If you take anything away from my post, you remember this. This defense has to play the perfect game, because the offense and special teams make so many mistakes. Cassell played a good game but what probably kept this team from winning the game regulation? could it be that pick 6 he gift wrapped?

I don't agree with you too often but this is on point.

The defense has hung in there every game, including NE. The offense has been doing them no favors at all, much less the special teams. Yesterday, the defense was probably at their worst though. It just happened to coincide with the offenses best performance.

You can't ask these guys to win on their own every game, they need the offense to step up.

So how many points does the offense need to score with a backup QB? Is 27 not enough? That's how much they scored yesterday. That would usually be enough with a starting QB. And other parts (running game, defense, special teams) are supposed to step up when the backup QB is playing.

One game out of six, one game out of six.......

I did say that yesterday was the opposite for each side.

I expect them to make a stop in overtime to snap a 5 game losing streak against a divisional opponent which would put us back in the hunt. Is that too much to ask???

Yeah and he's played THREE full seasons since then. Other than 2010 and this year he's played in the majority of the season.

But yeah he's made of glass.

 Guess you missed the part when Romo admitted he played with a broken rib for 2 months when he should have been sitting. But yeah, he's so not injury prone with that list below....

During the 2008 season - Romo broke the little finger on his right hand.

October 25, 2010 - Romo suffered a broken left clavicle.

Sep 20, 2011 - A CT scan revealed one fracture to Tony Romo's ribs.

December 22, 2013 - Romo suffered a herniated disc in his lower back.

October 27, 2014 - Romo suffered another back injury, injured his transverse process.

Dec 5, 2014 - Tony Romo said he had been playing through a broken rib for the better part of two months.

September 20, 2015 - Romo suffered a broken left collarbone.

Marinelli is the new Rob Ryan. We're going to run him out of town and then wonder why the next defensive coordinator isn't holding teams to 12 points every game with 2 turnovers and 4 sacks.

The defense was at fault last game. They were not at fault in New York or Seattle. Turning the ball over several times in New York and many for points won't get you a win. Letting Dwayne Harris return the ball for 100 yards at the end of the game is not on the defense. Expecting your offense to score a touchdown, especially when the defense gives you the ball in the redzone in Seattle is not on the defense.

I'd agree with this for the most part. Hilarious people just excusing two pick sixes in the last three games and acting like the defense is the sole reason we lost. This team isn't good enough to just gift teams points like that. Not a lot of turnovers. Well when teams can play safe against you because you can't make them pay for it that's what you get. Why do you think average defenses like the Packers and the Patriots get a lot of turnovers. They can pin their ears back because those offenses go up by huge margins.

And you still don't understand this. We have a backup QB, you should expect one screw up a game at the least. Imagine our defense getting a pick six? We'd be looking at a coupe of Ws right now.

It's not as though this defense was going up against Brady. It was freakin' Bradford, who has thrown 2-3 INTs in multiple games this season.

The 95 yard TD drive by Philly sums it up for me when discussing the defense.... you just don't see many of those but I knew it would happen before the first play was run.
Make a stop there and we probably turn it into at least a FG... or hold them to a FG attempt (which I'm sure would be good from midfield..smh).

I was feeling bad earlier, but now that the entire defense has been called out, things seem so much brighter.

Really glad we did that.

Huh? The defense hung in the Atlanta game where the Falcons scored endlessly in the 2nd half? The Philly game? The NO game where they gave up two straight game winning drives but were bailed out by a 30 yard FG miss?

No one has asked them to win every game. But they have had 4 chances out of 6 to close the deal and couldn't win ONE. Not one big play or big stop. Bad as the offense has been sans Romo both Weeden and Cassel have led last minute drives to tie games only to see the defense spit the bit

Well if the season keeps going the route it is going, someone will have to be a scapegoat and that may be Marinelli.
