The entire Defense needs to be called out

......and I don't want to hear how they only allowed 13 point to opponents the last 2 game. They have failed to make key stops when it matters most and they don't have any excuse! We all believed Hardy and McClain were the missing key pieces and once they returned, our defense would be a top defense. That hasn't happened. We all thought just maybe our health defense could pick up the slack an win us a game or two. That hasn't happened. Lee is made of glass and needs to retire. There is no excuse for McClain to be overweight and out of shape. No excuse for the coaches to allow that. No Excuse for them not being prepared for the Eagles fast paced offense. Crawford I stealing money as is Church. Marinelli has the talent but has failed to have them playing to their potential. Someone needs to rip some anus!

I agree that no coaches will get fired. The confluences of the Romo, Dez injuries and the Hardy and McClain suspensions will be seen as reason enough to give everyone a pass.

I still am supremely disappointed in the DL for a lack of pressure on the other QBs. This is where 50% of turnovers come from.

Huh? The defense hung in the Atlanta game where the Falcons scored endlessly in the 2nd half? The Philly game? The NO game where they gave up two straight game winning drives but were bailed out by a 30 yard FG miss?

No one has asked them to win every game. But they have had 4 chances out of 6 to close the deal and couldn't win ONE. Not one big play or big stop. Bad as the offense has been sans Romo both Weeden and Cassel have led last minute drives to tie games only to see the defense spit the bit

I agree with most of this post. It was entirely reasonable to expect struggles offensively without dez and tony. I hoped our defense would rise up and make a game saving play in at least one of these games.its seems like when we need them at a critical point in the game they fail. Like every single time.
We can't stop the run. Can't get a turnover . Can't stop a 4th and one . Not once?

Posts like this make me scratch my head. They showed a very telling graphic in yesterdays game. And that was yards and points by quarters for the defense. This defense gives this offense 3 quarters to win the game. They basically give up minimal in the first 3 quarters. But to anybody who watches the game and remembers after for the first 3 quarters in every game this yr, the defense has given the offense the chance to run away with every single game. Even that Patriots game. Dallas defense dominated until late in the 3rd quarter. They get gassed because this offense cant sustain drives. You cant keep sending your defense out there with 3 and outs and expect them to hang for 4 quarters. This defense is ranked 14th in the nfl. And thats with a horrible offense. Thats pretty amazing. I dont think people realize just how bad this team has been on offense. Clearly this poster doesnt. If you take anything away from my post, you remember this. This defense has to play the perfect game, because the offense and special teams make so many mistakes. Cassell played a good game but what probably kept this team from winning the game regulation? could it be that pick 6 he gift wrapped?

If it wasn't for this defense the past 6 weeks the scores wouldn't even be close! We would be getting blown out. It sucks because we are this close. For the TO's nobody is taking any chances because our offense sucks!

Blowouts would at least allow for a little more clarity in terms of identifying problems and then going about fixing them. We have lost in every way imaginable and that allows for a lot more dissonance.

The only consistent factor is the defense is not getting turnovers. They are playing bend but don't break and end up breaking in the 4th quarter.

It really is very similar to the early Campo days. Those defenses would "claw, bite and scrape" like we apparently love this defense for but when it came to a crunchtime play, it never happened. Except I think those defenses were no where near this one in terms of the sum skill level.

It reminds me of all of them, Zimmers #1 statistics defense, Campo, and even Wade. They all would falter in the 4th quarter. The TO's are just getting silly! On pace for 8! That would break the 13 that the Texans got with Wade!

Of course they are. But unlike last year where the run game controlled the clock and the pass game made the opportune plays off it to keep them off the field, it is not happening this year.

And honestly, it has not happened in any game this year. The defense has been pretty consistent, strong early and fading late, collapsing completely in the 4th quarter.

So how many points does the offense need to score with a backup QB? Is 27 not enough? That's how much they scored yesterday. That would usually be enough with a starting QB. And other parts (running game, defense, special teams) are supposed to step up when the backup QB is playing.

I never said the defense is fine, they obviously need a lot of work. I am only saying that their unit has been the most consistent of the three phases over the last six games.

Knowing that they suck in the 4th quarter.......the offense should have been more aggressive in the previous games, just like they were against Philly. Too little too late now though

So what the offense gets no blame for not being able to score a SINGLE point against a mediocre Atlanta defense in the second half? How about prior to that final drive by Weeden to tie the game they had THIRTEEN points total? That's pathetic. Yeah the defense struggled in the second half of those games, but they got worn down because of all the injuries. Mincey was out, Gregory was out, Hardy and McClain were still suspended.

Some of these players look fat and slow. Some look like they have absolutely no muscle definition ( witten and beasley).

This def is pretty much in the middle of the pack on a lot of categories, but is failing miserably in some categories like sacks and turnovers. While this def might not be as bad as some are saying, the lack of sacks, lack of t.o.'s and their inability to come up with critical stops is really hurting how they are perceived. That being said, I think they should be better than middle of the pack based on the talent they have.

The defense is playing just good enough to to get us the loss, not the win. They haven't made a stop in e 4th when it matters. A loss is a loss. You d not get nothing for close losses.
