The entire Defense needs to be called out

I won't go so far as to say this defense is playing well, because it has real problems the Tampa offense failed to exploit. But yeah, this offense should be competent to the point of scoring more than ten points, even under current conditions.

It's passing effectiveness differential that wins the games. That includes the impact of the defense, obviously.

So now the defense impacts how the offense plays...

But supposedly not the other way around...

I was told so many times that the offense and defense as independent issues, when Kiffen was letting teams rack up all sorts of yardage against this team.

Now, I'm told the offense needs more TOs from the defense and how the defense plays impacts the offense..

Last time I checked, didn't Heath get this team 2 INTs... In fact, he got one on the second to last drive. What did the offense do? If I remember correctly, it was a 3 and out?

Didn't we win the TO differential.. What exactly did the offense do with the TOs?

Let's just be clear... This is just a Garrett homer agenda.. We got the TOs this time around. We limited yardage.

Schematically, RM plays a bend-don't-break defense...

Not sure what you're saying, but it's a measurement of our passing offense v. their passing defense as compared to the measurement of their passing offense v. our passing defense. The differential between those things tells you who's very likely to win. In both sides of the equation, the defense matters.

Calling out the defense? Allowing only one TD isn't good enough? How about try out scoring a team that only gets 10 pts. The offense is the culprit here so put the blame were it belongs.

So when their passing offense plays better against our defense than our passing offense plays against their defense, they win...

I think it is driving everyone crazy that they can't figure out what is wrong.

The offense? Well, that is Romo. But dismiss how inept the team is without hm.

The defense? Makes sense. Held a horrible offense to ten points.

Might as well blame Dan Bailey for missing a FG and hampering momentum.

This is just a poorly coached team that thinks they are better than they are.

Blame the "d" in a game where the offense scored six.....ok good post.

They got 2 TOs and Heath got 1 on the second to last drive. TOs was the excuse last week.

Dallas offense did absolutely nothing with that drive, remaining content with a 6-3 lead.

But apparently the defense couldn't hold, because TB scored in the next drive.

So they give the TB offense one more chance in a bend-don't-break scheme... This defense is not even playing aggressive to even force TOs. The most RM will do is rush 4, but throw in a stunt once in awhile.

With a rookie QB, why wouldn't you throw different looks to confuse him? Zone blitzes and different DL looks..

Dallas's final defensive drives have been very bad. If the final drive defense was played for an entire game (i.e. 9 possessions), the defense's stat line would be:

41 points allowed
70 plays
503 yards

More if you switch the NYG desperation drive in week 1 to the actual drive opportunity (3 points, 13 plays, 79 yards vs 2 plays 22 yard), but I only set it up as drives where kneeldowns didn't happen and didn't account for desperation drives with laterals.

The Defense only gives up 10 points and a last minute TD and the loss is all of their fault? It's not on the offense for only getting 6 points? It's okay if the O goes in every game not being able to score a TD and it's suppose to be all on the Defense to win all of the time?

The second to last drive..

Heath made an INT with 5:40 seconds left to play. Dallas goes 3 and out, only using up 1 minute of the clock. AND they burned a TO...

Sorry, but blaming the defense for not making a stop is BS. When do you draw the line at the defense making a stop at the end? Your offense could have at least gotten a couple first downs and burned three minutes off the clock and put pressure on the Tampa offense to get upfield.

Plus, the offense had plenty of time even after the TD. They had no need to throw that bomb to Dez at the end. We had enough time to throw up the middle and pick up yardage and spike the ball and run a couple more plays.

That bomb is the sign of a desperate offense. No strategy or planning..

Anyone who thinks the defense did something special today is nuts.
We had TB inside their own 10 four times and never forced a punt that would have given us great field position. Instead, we let them out of the hole every time to flip the field on us. They drove deep into our territory twice for scoring opportunities when Heath of all people intercepted tipped passes. Then they gave up the TD.

Poor teams only look like they have decent defenses because other teams play very conservative against them. Yet every time we score, other teams have no problem answering. Every time we have a lead, other teams always score what they need when they need it to win. That's not a good defense.

Is that why we lost? No...we lost because we stink. We are 2-7. We are what our record says we are. Cassell is worse than Weeden, and it was a mistake to move away from the guy who had two training camps with us for a bum after two 3 weeks. Cassell threw another panicked pick six today that was dropped by the LB it hit in the stomach.

His Dez-ness dropped two huge 3rd down passes that killed key drives....one in scoring territory and one to milk the clock. Maybe he needs Romo to help him shine...he is a physical beast, but even in man coverage, he gets no separation. I hope he drops a few pounds next year for more quickness if possible.

Last year we beat a lot of poor QBs to go on our early run, but even the Rams with Austin Davis score 31 points on us. This year, we still can't stop anyone to secure a win. Yes, the offense can't score, but this makes a bunch of games where the win was on the line for one defensive stop, and the defense has failed every time. It's everyone's fault.

We are not a good team....period. The difference between last year and this year is that we don't have Romo to win the close games for us in the late fourth quarter or to move the chains at the end to keep our pathetic defense off the field at crunch time.
