I like to think of myself as one who does not jump to extremes with this team, and I’d like to believe I'm as objective as possible with my team. I said before the game that this would be a tough game to play, and it was. I said if Dallas played to their abilities and minimized mistakes they’d win by 14. They did neither and therefore lost by double-digits.

However we’re still 6-3 and still top of our division. Our defense played well the majority of the game, but it was hard to overcome the loss of Jenkins and Hamlin in the game on defense, and Columbo on the line.

As always, after a loss, people get blamed. That’s fine, but to blame the coaches for this loss is wrong in my opinion. The players did not make plays, plain and simple. Several players also made several mistakes today that had very little if anything to do with coaching.

Missed execution lost us this game, and to me it’s blatantly obvious. From Romo missing throws (Austin on the first drive) to kickers missing FG’s, to penalties extending drives (Jenkins hold), to penalties killing drives (Witten pick) to dropped balls, to missed assignments (Flo) to fumbles, we once again made tons of mistakes and very little of that has to do with coaching.

Some of you want to point out that Garrett abandoned the run. It would seem so simply looking at the stats, however that is not the case at all. We could not get off the field on defense, allowing GB to control the clock, and when we couldn’t stay on the field on 3rd down whether it was a run or a pass. For those with an Anti-Garrett agenda, put it down for a second, think back to the actual game, not the stats, and you’ll see there is no argument for this. (I have more details here)Going into the 4th quarter we were doubled up in TOP at 30 min for GB and 15 for us. Hard to run in the 4th quarter down ten in those circumstances.

Coaching often gets blamed because it’s the easiest thing for fans to do after a loss. The coaching was fine this game. Our players performance was not.

Injuries also played a huge factor. We likely lost Columbo for the rest of the regular season, and then lost Jenkins and Hamlin, which no doubt played a huge factor in our abilities on defense. Alan Ball is no Mike Jenkins, and Pat Watkins is no Ken Hamlin (and I don’t think too highly of Hamlin)

I did like how Roy was much more involved, and open several times which means as teams are focusing on stopping Miles (the last two games he's been quiet) Roy is getting opportunities. He must take advantage of them however.

I'd like to see more from Felix, although there wasn't many opportunities for him today...then again that has never mattered for him in the past.

Defense played well for the majority of the game, but no forced turnovers really hurt us. I think if we had even gotten one turnover that we win this game. But not today.

I didn’t think we’d lose this game, but I didn’t think we’d win it either. I had no idea what to think, because of this exact reason. This team is inconsistent and we never know what performance we’re going to get out of them, week in and week out. And it was like that under Parcells too, along with the penalties, so don’t blame the staff for that.

I'm not supporting the fact that our coaching was perfect however, as I'm sure they made mistakes just like the players...but in my opinion the performance of the players had a MUCH bigger impact on the outcome than the coaching did. Plays were there to be made, and were not.

But we’re 6-3, still leading the division, and have Washington next. They’re coming off a big win and they ALWAYS play us tough. Even in 07 when we were as hot as can be, they almost beat us. It will be a tough game for sure, but as long as the right Dallas team shows up, we can win that and be 7-3. However the mistake ridden Cowboys can show up as well, and if that happens we very well may be sitting at 6-4 and with a tough December schedule, the playoffs could be tough to reach.

But, once again, if we play to our abilities and minimize mistakes, we can beat any team in this league. It's just a crapshoot as to whether this team does that or not.

They, no doubt, didn't help themselves with mental mistakes. I hate using the refs, because it usually evens out, but they didn't help any today.

Good post

I feel this team can still roll, this loss may turn out better. It may propel them to not play lackluster again for awhile. Today they were flat offensively so hopefully they catch it early next time and chang tactics. You know, someone caould put a bug in RHG ear that we hava a fat *** offensive line that is pretty good at blockin and opening holes.

I'm not as disappointed as I thought I would be. I hate that we blew a chance to go up another game over the Eagles and an extra 1/2 game over the Giants. Golden opportunity missed. The injuries with two more games in 10 days is also a concern. We will miss Columbo, but hopefully Jenkins and Hamlin (yes Hamlin) will be OK. The stretch drive is coming. It's a horrible time to be banged up.

Roy is catching a lot of flack, but he played well today. The drop was inexcusable, but the fumble could've happened to anyone. As mad as I was, it was a good strip by Woodson.

I still don't know what to make of this Cowboys team. Just when I was believing in them, this happened. I'm a sucker though and I will keep believing, hoping and rooting for these Cowboys.

Something Wade said in his PC on Thursday had me fearing this today. He said, practice was intense but there were few mistakes. Pretty much whenever, Wade has said something negative about practices during the week, Cowboys laid an egg. It must have been Offense making mistakes in Practice, since Wade didn't say which side made mistakes at practice.

Anyway, I hoping, it was really not an issue, but it hasn't turned to be wrong so far, i.e. when Wade says something bad about practice and second he didn't seem to be usual good mood this week during PCs, unlike the 4 game win stretch.

No, you are conveniently jumping over the fact the that the drop and fumble killed two drives. This is playing well?

Is Felix missing something right now? He wasn't all effective when he was out there, but at the same time our run blocking on the plays he was out there was terrible so I couldn't tell whether he was really at fault there. We do need to get him back to how he was before the injury though.

Well in all fairness, Roy wasn't alone killing that one drive. If Witten hadn't committed that penalty, the drive would have kept going regardless.

Calling out the coaches at this point isnt knee jerk. We've watched this for 3 years now, it's time to stop defending them and stop hiding behind the "knee-jerk" and "overreaction" excuses.

Good job looking at a box-score. Did you read the post or watch the game?

Clearly not.

I'm not saying it is, but it is knee-jerk to blame them for this game when if you really look at the game you should see that coaching was not the problem.

umm I watched the game and saw coach Tecmo abandon the run after the 1st series. everything was out of shotgun too. you run the ball on the road in hostile territory especially when you lose your rt and the line is struggling in pass protection. you don't have a 4-1 pass to run ratio.

:hammer:

It's hard to run consistently when you're constantly in second and third and long.

Serious question for you "even-keel" guys.

How do you expect this team to win tough playoff games on the road when the offensive coordinator completely abandons the run at the first sign of trouble?

It most certainly is the problem. If you can't see that then I'm willing to bet you never played football.

The Packers were blitzing damn near every down, yet we refused to run quick passing plays and screens. Instead we kept trying to do deep. We refused to help our tackles even after they kept getting beat consistently. We ran the ball 11 times despite the fact that we had two runningbacks who averaged over 5 YPC. We refused to press their receivers even after it was blatantly obvious GB was throwing quick outs and slants (something we shoudl have been doing). We blitzed 3 men IN THE SAME GD GAP AT THE SAME GD TIME twice on 3rd and 10+, which of course resulted in them all getting stonewalled.

I'm a 24 year old who never played football past the varsity high school level and I can see these things. Our coaches clearly cannot, and that is more than a little troubling. Our coaches are playing checkers while everyone else is playing chess

i'm not gonna pick that apart right now. if you really think the playcalling was good than i'm going to just laugh at you. 4 to 1 ratio in favor of the pass is just stupid especially on the road.
Translation: I'm not gonna attempt to counter his argument because I have none.
