Since it seems the topic of the day, I figured why not, wrap up the rumor once and for all.
Facts:
Engel is a sensationalist, it's what he does, he always spins bits and pieces into something it's not. Every trade rumor we have heard the last couple of years starts with Engel, including us trading one of our ILBs this year.
James has looked improved, he's still had some rough spots, but he isn't getting burnt constantly with us going base D most of the time.
For a guy who can't rush the passer, according to the coach, he's been rushing the passer from ILB and DE... a lot. And one of those blitzes caused a defensive TD.
Now, today it comes out that Wade is concerned about Ellis being ready for week 1, so what does this coach who thinks Bobby sucks at rushing do? He starts giving Carpenter snaps at OLB.
So what can we gather from all this?
Mac Engel would have us believe Bradie is a God, Bobby is a bust that the coach doesn't like, who is about to be traded.
Well a more logical way to piece this together would be:
James not getting beat in base D, means we can rotate James and Carpenter at nickel some of the time. This allows Carpenter to also see action in a platoon with Spencer at OLB and nickel DE until/if Ellis can return.
