Turns out that it wasn't really a phantom call after all. After all the bad calls made during the game, this one happened to be a good call by the ref. Flozell punched the guy in the helmet while running directly in front of the umpire:

Flozell: If I can't block you, I'll at least make sure that you won't be involved in the tackle.

I hate to say it but I really cant stand Flo, he is just stupid in my opinion. He is the Jeff George of offensive linemen. He has all the talent in the world, but a 10 cent brain. He has been in the league for how long now and he still cant figure out that stuff like that does nothing but hurt the team?

Ya and it killed our drive. There's a difference between "nasty" and just ****ing stupid.

That was dumb.

Did the announcers say he's the most penalized player in the NFL over the last 5 years?? Or just most penalized O lineman?

Other than that I thought Flo had a pretty good game, but yeah he needs to control himself better in situations like that.

On the nosey.

Against the Bucs, you can do something like that and and get away with it.

Against good teams, early in the season, maybe you can do things like that and get away with it.

Against playoff teams, late in the year and IN the playoffs, one play like that can cost you the game.

Good hardnose play.

Yes, by all means, let's encourage our players to swat opponents in the helmet when they're standing right next to the ref.

Colombo would have had the sense to be 'good and hardnosed' when the refs weren't looking.

By the way, did anyone catch the little flareup at the end of the game? Colombo appeared to have done something to someone and a couple of TBers had to be restrained. I'm willing to call whatever that was good and hardnosed ;)

I doubt Flo even saw the ref and I doubt any of the lineman would seen the ref for obvious reasons. Slightly dirty hardnose play is vital to playing D and O line, not all the time but sometimes it is a necessary evil. You have to remember that they are not playing kick ball. I remember several years ago when Flo got hit dead in the fellas in Minnesota, if he was nastier that would have probably never happened or at least he should have retaliated at some point during the game.

I am not advocating whole sale anarchy but I can forgive those types of plays a lot easier then those of the procedural variety.
