I honestly think the best game-plan wins this thing. The Dallas staff has had two weeks to right the ship and game-plan for the Giants. There is little doubt that Dallas is playing for the East at home against Philly if they sweep the Giants and Commanders. If they poop the bed here then they deserve whatever criticism they get.

Dallas plays the Giants, and their gaudy 4 game win streak, Sunday. Listening to ESPN, I came away convinced Dallas will be luck to stay within 4 touchdowns of this juggernaut. Then the fear was ratcheted up when I listened to their massive defensive lineman, Jason Peter Paul-Mary. He even said there would be blood...Gulp..

But Wait ................. I looked a little closer into that 4 game win streak that had one ESPN analyst, Jaws Jaworoski, to comment, "They're Back!"

In that win streak they beat..in order:

Vikings: With Josh Freeman at QB. He was released the week before and had exactly 2 practices before the game.

Eagles: With Matt Barkley at QB. Third string with Vick and Noles being out.

Raiders: With starting QB Tyrelle Pryor, leagues 28th ranked QB with a QBR of 58.9, with 5 TD's and 10 Ints.

Green Bay: With third string QB Scott Tolzien. No Discount Double Check.

Eli was on fire, so there is that to fear. Well, not really. In that 4 game stretch he had 3 TD's and 2 Ints. His QB rating for the four game stretch? 76.15 I wonder if the NY media and fans are writing about what's wrong with Eli?

The Media is convinced. Note this headline.

NY Post: Resurgent NY Giants fourth straight win against slumping Packers
Note this small note? Tolzien, starting his first NFL game, took the blame. No mention of this anywhere in this love fest of a post.

Dallas Morning News was not much better: Their Headline:
How the New York Giants are in position to match Dallas Cowboys record after horrid start by Rainer Sabin
He goes on to tell us the reason for the resurgence.

One of the reasons why the Giants have enjoyed a turnaround is the improvement on defense. Defense? Really? No mention of the Giants beating in a four game stretch, 3 - 3rd string QB's and the 28th ranked QB in the league. All about the defense?

My Sunday prediction?

Dallas 28 - Giants 13

We'll see on Sunday.

Irrespective of record or even form, it's a division game and more often than not they're close.

The Giants just aren't scary.

I think the return of Claiborne, Wilcox, Hatcher and a healthy Ware makes a difference to this defense.

The bye rejuvenates a battered and lackluster Cowboys team.

34-24, good guys.

This Dallas team "healthy" at home.. Needed six TO's to squeak out a win against a Giants team that was crap then. Giants Defense is playing tons better.

I don't care if the Giants played my son's pee wee tackle team last week. And the week before.

Makes no difference when playing the Cowboys.. Especially after the debacle in NO's.. Without Waters or Lee..

People in here are puffing too much and not passing.. Sorry.

We sweep the Giants for the first time in six years.

I've been pretty down on the Cowboys the past few weeks, but I'm with you on this one. I think the Cowboys beat the Giants and enjoy a Thanksgiving win over the Raiders. It's getting 2 wins in the final four that I worry about.

I agree with this, completely. The Giants at 1-9 would be perfectly capable of getting us if it was a game we needed to have. And beating them this week, on top of their resurgence, might end up being one of those pivotal games that propels the Cowboys to better things, given that everyone and their mother are expecting the same old, sad, refrain.

I agree with you. In terms of pivotal, season-defining games, I think this one is it. A win puts them right back into the hunt for the division and a playoff spot. A loss I feel, continues the death spiral, possibly to a sub .500 record.

So if we are going to downplay their resurgence based on schedule shouldn't we acknowledge our wins are equally as unimpressive? Simply put we aren't a good team either. Just like the Eagles and Giants we have significant weaknesses.

So you're just going to ignore the point that the OP made regarding the crap QBs the Giants have played against?

I'm willing to bet the Cowboys would also have gone on a 4 game winning streak if they had the benefit of playing against those QBs.

Lets see how "tons better" the Giants defense is when they have to go against a team's regular starting QB for a change. So far they are 0-6 in that scenario.

The Cowboys aren't any good either but it's funny watching the overreaction to the Giants 4 game winning streak. At least the Cowboys beat other team's "A" starter. The Giants are getting healthy against teams playing their 3rd string QB.

Giants do suck -- I don't think there is much doubting that.

What they do have is momentum. They've won 4 in a row -- doesn't matter who they played.

We also know the Cowboys barely beat the Giants IN DALLAS despite a +5 turn-over ratio.

To consider this game anything other but a tossup is crazy talk.

And they haven't looked good in beating any of these teams. The games look like two teams battling for which one plays less worse than the other. It's not like the Giants have been dominating these opponents. I give the Eagles a little credit. Even though they are beating team similar to what the Giants have played the difference is the Eagles are dominating their opponents. The Giants are doing just enough to win. That won't cut it against the Cowboys. I know we aren't all that but we're light years better than anything they've faced since they started winning.

I don't buy this logic. I've always believed that beating any team in the NFL can be tough. The Giants could have gone in the tank after the early games but they have gotten healthy and still have weapons and players. I honestly have never liked playign them in NY when their D has an attitude. They are one team that I truly believe feeds off of it and they have proven they can make runs before. I think it will be a good game but I don't think we are much better than them.

The thing nobody is talking about is the resurgence of their defensive line. They can absolutely stop the run and make us one dimensional, and they can put the pressure on #9 once they realize we've abandoned the run-- which, let's face it, we probably will.

But unlike Giants teams of past, I'm not talking about stellar DE play. I'm talking about solid DE play and very good DT play.

And since we're forced to start Bern, call me un-confident.

Has Garrett ever even had a 4 game winningstreak? Hilarious to see so many people dismiss this like it is nothing. You can only beat the teams in front of you.

Divisional games are usually close in the NFC east. This game is on the road and they have played well against us the last few years. The Giants are on a roll, playing against fake QBs or not, they have confidence, we have to get it back. The Boys have holes to fill and players getting back into the system. We need to be pumped up for us to stay in the game. I feel a 28-27 win and we stay in the division lead with the birds

OK then.............. - we should have no problem beating the Giants this week...........why am I having a hard time convincing myself of that???

Because it should be. People are trying their hardest to convince themselves the Eagles and Giants are not for real. But winning 3 and 4 games in a row in this league is nothing to sneeze at.

Eli always has a field day with our defense. And they have confidence and a little swagger right now. This is going to be a tough game. With how this defense is playing and how inept and clueless this offense has looked, I don't have an easy time convincing myself this is going to be a win.

That's a pretty good case. The local (NY) radio announcers haven't been very impressed with the offense over this 4 game "resurgence".

the really bad news is that the Giants dont even have to do it

we will stop our own run game and make ourselves one dimentional

Well with the bye week that should help us but, after the Saints game who knows what team will show up.

In every loss up to the 'Aints game, the Cowboys were competitive. They lost 4 by a combined 14 points.

Kinda hoping for a little better than the team in the opener that allowed 31 pts. and 450 yards and 4 td's passing lol.

I agree.

Are we forgetting Dallas did everything in their power to give the game to the Giants? With more starters on defense?

Had there been 2 more minutes on the clock............Dallas may have eeked out another loss.

Never have I had less faith in a Dallas football team. Ever. Coaching staff included.

FTR - I did think this was an excellent thread topic and very well written.
