The Giants Resurgence Is A Myth

There is no reason that we shouldn't beat the giants this weekend. Likewise there's no reason the giants shouldn't beat us this weekend. We're both very flawed teams. If our offense comes out and actually steps on the gas I think the Giants have a hard time keeping up with us, even with the injury riddled defense. If we lollygag around, well that makes us lollygaggers.

Also, no one is mentioning the rise of their running game. They were one dimensional because David Wilson is awful, but Andre Brown has returned from a broken leg in the pre-season.

That's right. Let that infuriate you a bit. Andre Brown has returned from a broken leg to help stabilize the offense.

Yet our guys who we were waiting on to get back from seemingly lesser injuries are done for the year or off the team.

So if we are going to downplay their resurgence based on schedule shouldn't we acknowledge our wins are equally as unimpressive? Simply put we aren't a good team either. Just like the Eagles and Giants we have significant weaknesses.

No kidding. The Giants have padded their record against average to below average teams. Dallas is an average to below average team.

I wish we won four games in a row...I don't care who we played or if others claimed the resurgence was myth or not. Four games in a row would be double the amount of games we have won in a row.

If Dallas loses the division and Garrett isn't fired, Jerry Jones needs to be overthrown via French Revolution style... absolutely no excuses with this team being in position to win the division at minimum two years in a row on their own terms and fold...

The Giants are getting healthy against backups. I do want to point out though and I don't know if it was, the Giants didn't beat Barkley. He came in later who replaced Vick who couldn't do a thing against the Giants defense. Maybe it was because he was still hurt but Barkley didn't start against the Giants.

Am I convinced the Giants are back and a contender for the division? Only if they beat the Cowboys.

reality is, most bad teams would hav folded at that start and accepted their fate as bad. The Giants haven't... Kudos to them...

So you're just going to ignore the point that the OP made regarding the crap QBs the Giants have played against?

I'm willing to bet the Cowboys would also have gone on a 4 game winning streak if they had the benefit of playing against those QBs.

Lets see how "tons better" the Giants defense is when they have to go against a team's regular starting QB for a change. So far they are 0-6 in that scenario.

Yeah, I will,

Why? Since you asked..

Eli STILL put up 400yds in that first game. And that was with a "healthy" Ware, Lee, Clairborne,Church etc....

This time? At Giants Stadium? Gimme a break.

I have seen Dallas teams make 2nd string QB's look like HOF's.. Hell, Delhomme got a starting job because of Dallas.

Yeah.. We will see.

The Cowboys aren't any good either but it's funny watching the overreaction to the Giants 4 game winning streak. At least the Cowboys beat other team's "A" starter. The Giants are getting healthy against teams playing their 3rd string QB.

It has nothing to do with the Giants. Means nothing..

Dallas has been playing crap football for the past 3 weeks..

And, who have the Cowboys beaten, aside from the Giants, that have been worth a damn?

Nobody.. The same deal that everyone is boasting in here about that the Giants have done. Cowboys haven't beat squat in terms of talent.

Oh well, I guess another "moral" victory is okay for some.

The fact that every other team in the division sucks just as bad meant that they always had hope.

Imagine if the roles were reversed. If we won 4 in a row we would be getting hot at the right time and the Giants would be trending downward and somehow still be a joke. I think some here need to belittle the division to make themselves feel better about our inadequacies.

Absolutely.

We'd be hearing how difficult it is to win in this league.

There's zero chance that, if we were going into a NYFG game, on the road, against a squad that was ahead of us in the standings and had already beaten us that our fans, collectively, would consider them somehow a joke. Cowboys fans are well-conditioned to have a healthy respect for the Giants, and with good reason. It's also the reason--coupled with the embarrassing Saints loss--why we're having a crisis of confidence here this week going into what is a very winnable game against a middling NFC team.

Very debatable. While it may not be "collective" there are plenty of fans that get their panties in a bunch whenever Eli or the Giants get praise.

Crisis of confidence? Our defense has been a joke for weeks and our offense consistently inconsistent. It has zero to do with being beaten by the Saints. It's seeing the exact same thing this season we've seen for years. I know you lead a campaign against negativity but sorry we are not a good team this season.

Everything's very debatable on CZ. Still, I think you're wrong about this hypothetical. We'll never know, though.

I also think you're wrong that the mood around here re: our defense has zero to do with getting outclassed by the Saints.

You're right that I don't like a constant stream of negativity with my football seasons, but I'm not blind to the problems with this team. We're not a good team right now, I agree.

Neither are the Giants or Eagles, though, and 6 games is a lifetime in the NFL. One of these NFCE teams might very well end up getting very hot before it's all said and done. Just look at how the Giants looked to start out the season and compare it to today. A lot can change with a team's fortunes, even without significant roster change. And for us, on defense at least, we're getting some significant players back. Sean Lee, Jason Hatcher, Morris Claiborne, JJ Wilcox, a healthier Demarcus Ware, Miles Austin...some of those players might be disappointments to us right now, but they're definite upgrades over what we've been trotting out.

The "myth" may continue because we are at best on par with the teams the Giants have beaten during this resurgence. I haven't seen anything on either side of the ball that suggests we won't lose by double digits. We have the worst defense in the NFL. It is historically bad. The offense is regressing because every defense we face dictates what we do and we do not have an answer.

From what I can tell it is going to be cold and windy which neither qb does well in. So we are basically talking about can Dallas stop Andre Brown and short passes to Cruz. The problem is the Giants line has been awful all year, but we rarely have shown the ability to expoit that.. Hopefully having Ware, Hatcher and Selvie will be enough. This is probably one of those 20-13 type games if the wind is a factor.
