The goal should be to win a SB, not responsible cap management

Every time Stephen Jones opens his entitled jaws and talks about being “financially responsible” I can’t help but laugh to avoid screaming with frustration.

If being “financially responsible” is the goal for this front office, congratulations.

But.. If winning SBs is the goal then start taking notes from the rams and eagles who have won 3 SBs between them in this last decade. And they’ve spent a ton of cap space, been in “cap hell” occasionally, completely retooled their rosters, and even had multiple QBs lead those teams.

If winning SBs is the real goal here, we don’t need to worry about “financially responsibility”. We need to start acquiring some major talent upgrades NOW. Not gradually. NOW. If being in a comfortable cap situation every year is the goal, then goodbye to contending - ever again.

And if we end up having a bad cap space issue for a couple years - good! That means we tried. That also would mean we get some better draft picks at the bottom of the league to reload.

Stop being careful and go for it.

Bob, I agree completely.

In the comments I copied above, there’s something implied but unstated, so I’ll say it now.

Doing those things are difficult and require a highly skilled and proficient front office that works together in an effort to be the best and compete every day.

Our front office isn’t highly skilled, isn’t effective at working together. It prioritizes personal comfort and financial success over building a champion.

I think it’s now obvious that Jerry and his entire organization don’t know how to do it. The only success he’s ever had was when Jimmy handled all of the coaching and personnel decisions.

Since then it’s been financial success and mediocrity.

Jerry just has no idea how to win and at this point, even in this “brand new” approach, it’s the same business as usual decision-making but it’s dressed up with the latest “this time it’s different” costume.

If he wasn’t a boat anchor around my team’s neck, I’d feel kinda bad for him because he’s clueless and has no one in his life that can call him on it.

Well said Kwyn.

It's not "your" team though, it's "his" and he......Will........do......whatever.......he..............wants.

I will continue the boat themed analogy - sadly us fans are all in this boat together drifting aimlessly until something happens to the captain.

Well he's a bean counter and eater, that's why he has a lot of gas.

There’s been plenty of talk about how they are finally going to open the wallet, but it’s not as simple as doing only that….they also must make the right decisions. Spending money doesn’t guarantee that it’ll work out. I’m.not so confident there.

The next couple of years are crucial. Other than the QB and cap situation, and having recently traded premium picks for players, Parker isn’t going to be here very long.

Either he fails, or fixes this mess and has a HC job within two years.

If these current coaches fail, the next move is a total rebuild, not still trying to patch around Dak for year fourteen with still not as much as a divisional playoff win.

Yes, NOW is the time. It’s so obvious even the two blind idiots can see it.

Stephen would simply tell you that you're missing the big picture of winning MULTIPLE championships!

Bullet I hate to be the one to throw the wet blanket out but winning a Super bowl is flat out not the goal for Jerry.

This has been proven conclusively for years now no matter what he and Steven say to the media every year.

Being financially responsible has brought their true goals to fruition and that is being the most valuable team in all of sports.

Jerry has stated what's important to him before working with his family so you're not going to get competent front office people you're going to get more Joneses that are interested in making more money.
Generational wealth another top priority.
And of course being the most valuable team in all of sports a much harder goal to reach and much more of a challenge to Jerry then winning a trophy with the Packers coach's name on it.

Tough pill to swallow bullet but that trophy is only important to us fans who get thrown the scraps teased gaslighted and kept just interested enough to follow the team.

It's hysterical to me how people are so excited that when looking for a defensive coordinator we actually did our due diligence and behaved like a normal team that was looking to win a championship.

But two losing seasons will do that have to keep relevant and stay on television.

These are Jerry's true priorities until he changes them to wanting to win a Super bowl it's just not going to happen we will continue to do enough to make the playoffs and stay relevant that is the true ceiling

I'll boil it down Jerry's priorities and goals.

WORK WITH FAMILY

CREATE GENERATIONAL WEALTH

CONTINUE TO BE THE MOST VALUABLE TEAM IN SPORTS This is Jerry's Super bowl and has given him bragging rights for the last 10 years.

BY PRACTICING FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY Jerry wins his Super bowl every year.

Fans priority and goals win a Super bowl

Acquire trophy with Packers coaches name on it have bragging rates for a year.

This requires actually shooting The works going all in being financially extravagant and getting whatever talent is needed to get you to that end goal of the silver trophy.
And on top of that being lucky which we are not.

You have to spend serious money just to compete in that game and there's still no guarantee.

Jerry has proven that it is much more financially beneficial to stay relevant hang around the rim and dangle the carrot in front of the fans while reaching his goal.

He's a billionaire he serves himself and his family our goal means absolutely nothing to him no matter what he says

Its all about taking calculated risks.

The time to go "all in" was during our 3 straight 12 win seasons.

Its late in the game now, and I still hope we are aggressive but its more desperate than smart at this point. Imo

The argument to make is we still have a top 5 offense and bringing the defense up to par should net real results. I think Jerry feels like this is his last push as he and his qb age out.

Great catch on picking up his main message. People's words really need to be analyzed closer.

I wonder how many times Les Snead and Howie Roseman have used those words, because they are the antithesis of the Jones boys in player aquisitions
