It's basic stuff. What is the down, the distance? What have I seen on the game film for this scenario.

Where's my leverage? What's my shade? What are my safeties alignment?

You use all this knowledge to your advantage and then turn on your physical talent to do your job.

Not be "all world", but rather do your job.

I'm won't put this loss on him, but I certainly expected more consistency.

...cop out. Newman is here on this team and he was certainly there on the field.

This has nothing to do with past players.

At this level of competition all players should be held accountable to what occurs on the field. That's how you get better as a team in a competitive environment.

Stroking your "pet cat" won't make up for the coverage issues Newman had on some plays.

He's not Elite or Great.

As bad as the secondary was, they did not lose this game. Although it would have been nice to get that last stop. Not sure where all the pass rush pressure went though.

The run stopping was fierce today however. The big nose that everyone is clamoring for is already on the roster, starting even. Except (like Haloti Ngata used to) he plays at DE. Igor is the big run plugger. And Rat could play MLB in the NFL, he's that fast.

Nnamdi would suck in this defense this year. Our db's are left with zero help from either safety. They are on an island and apparently coached to stand 10 yards off no matter what the down and distance is. That combined with no pass rush is just .... blah.

I am convinced the secondary is better than they have appeared. We CANT be that bad on defense this year.

The Giants pretty much passed at will against us tonight. Incompletions by the Gaints were caused largely by poor execution on the part of Manning and nothing our defense was doing. A bad effort that was made worse by poor tackling.

I dont think we have to worry about the "CB controversy" anymore after tonight.

I think Jenkins probably starts the rest of the season opp Newman, barring injuries.

Its not all on the CB's though. Our safeties are completely invisible in pass coverage. There are clearly plays where the safeties should be getting there for the double teams, and they are just too slow to react.

I cannot emphasize enough how much our lack of Press Coverage hurts us.

If you are going to blitz you almost HAVE to press, whether your in Man or Zone.

Otherwise screens,slants, underneath routes will kill you. And if those work you can go deep at will as well.
