Of course, Dorsett and Emmitt are arguably both top ten all time. Not sure if another franchise can claim that kind of history.

Even on short term Dwayne Thomas was a big part of the 1st SB

Gale Sayers and Walter Payton for sure. Some might argue Eric Dickerson and Marshall Faulk.

Interesting that both Dickerson and Faulk played and starred for both the Rams and Colts. Very rare.

I'm betting we keep throwing rotating 3rd-4th round picks at the problem as long as we can demonstrate that they're fairly readily-available. It'll be a while before we see an actual 'great' again.

Which stinks, because it's fun to watch a Cowboys team with a great RB. But it's the better use of high draft picks and VFA dollars on second contracts for a position where replacements can play early and are fairly easy to get.

Same. The "great" players will be along the offensive line and outside the hash marks. Running back will be a position of churn.
