Apparently Spencer is going to be fine in short coverage - I saw a comment on how well he's adapting to pass defense, so Roy will be unleashed early and often. His reputation will be renewed as one of the greats, IMO. If I have any concerns for our defense at this point, its whether Hamilin can come back to the player he was, or will FS again be our achilles heel? If he does slip, at least Watkins has some game experience, and maybe that's all he needed. TC should be interesting...

I too like to look at the secondary through Rose colored Glasses and believe that they are not as bad as it looked last year. I believe that more pressure on the QB, a healthy Henry, and the game experience Watkins got last year will pay big dividends for the secondary. As for Hamlin, I believe he will show us the skills and ability he had before the head injury. It is something about players that feel they have something to prove that intrigues me. The determination and the extra effort seems to come out. Another thing I think will help is we are finally playing Davis where he needed to play, at SS. This will help Williams to get off the field a little to rest. I'm looking for big things out of these guys. IMO, we possibly have one of the Best CB/SS combination if everything plays out well.

Halen what's up man? Those YouTube videos are great! I expect big things from Hamlin and from our secondary in general b/c we actually have a "qb of the defense" now in Hamlin.

we just need competent FS play, and a better pass-rush, we just need someone who can make the correct calls and be in position

the addition of Hamlin gives us the competent safety play right off the bat, still to be determined whether Wade's D can get the pass-rush going

Hey Halen!
You know I love my boy Pat Watkins, but I think Wade will use Watkins, Hamlin, and Roy in very interesting ways. I talked to Pat Watkins this summer and he said that he is very focused on learning this new defense. I'm excited....but I'm a big homer anyway..

As a Hogs fan, I was thrilled with the Hamlin pickup.
I just hope he fills our needs at FS.

It's pretty awesome that we have such an intimidating presence over the middle, but Hamlin is going to need to improve a little in his pass coverage.
