If you've ever listened to Cowherd on the subject of our team, you'd know this was fakery. While he tries to make the case that we disappoint in December he conveniently missed 2014 when we went 4-0,he then tries to conflate a slippery ball extra point in 2006 with a questionable catch call on the road after a brilliant 4th down throw, in G.B in 2014 with the idea we've been dumb all along. So if you're buying that fractured "trend line" Now we're smart and he'll forgive us....well excuse us. I think Cowherd is just pouring more gasoline on a ratings fire because he knows Cowboy shtick "opinions" bring ratings.

I hate it about sports talk (and that includes forum talk) that people can just be as wrong as wrong, standing on their tables and screaming at the tops of their voices wrong. Calling you a blind homer for disagreeing with them in the middle of yet another emotional rant about the coach or the draft or QB coach or the play calling or the WR cutting himself on some soup wrong...and then just go 'my bad,' and we're done with it.

I know there's nothing for it and you just have to say 'yeah, I know' and move on. But I do hate it. If I had it my way, people would be walking around with 'I was wrong' tattoos on their foreheads the rest of their lives.

I've listened to him a lot this season. He has been a strong Dak doubter and didn't think our early success was real. These were pretty common themes in his discussion. A couple of weeks ago he had Dak on his show to give a mea culpa to Dak about ever doubting him. He followed that up with this piece a couple weeks later.

I generally agree with your thoughts on trumped up ratings and leveraging the Cowboys as fodder. Certainly Skip and Stephen A. do that all the time, which is smart in my view. In this instance, however, I'm giving Herd the benefit of the doubt. Having watched his programming closely this year, I can't help but think that this was legit, even if done with tongue firmly planted in cheek.

If you can separate his comments on the team to Romo specifically, he has been defending Romo against stupidity for a long time. I also think he's personal friends with Tony because he invited Cowherd to his Fantasy Fan Fest the the NFL cancelled.

The nature of his job is the nature of television these days. Pick a subject, take a side, illicit a response rinse and repeat. As someone who works in network television I know what the over riding rule is--

It's not about what's good anymore - it's about what's interesting.

The analogy was spot on IMO. But he strikes me as someone who likes to build people up just to break them down.
He talked about the Cubs not winning the World Series and after they did he did a complete 180
