Real quickly, this guy had issues of domestic violence which hurt his draft stock. Since we signed Hardy the front office knew we couldn't draft or even sign this guy as a UDRFA. I really hope they keep this guy because he has all the tools and the length to have a big impact as a rotation guy.

I hope so too. But it's hard not to believe that he's just someone else's scrap off the heap that we decided to put on the roster until he gets moved to the practice squad. Just another churn to our roster.

The FO is hoping he develops into a somewhat lesser version of Leon Lett. His measurables are similar but of course, the road he had to travel to get to the Cowboys facility was significantly bumpier. He is said to have rid himself of the questionable reputation that he had earned in days passed. Hopefully, it is truly behind him.

Went over to KC forums after we signed him and they were real upset. Said he blocked a kick in PS as well. This is another McClay find it seems. Butler, Cmike, and Irving. All young pups with loads of potential and measurables that could end up paying off bigtime. And if they don't, no high draft picks or money lost.

This churning of the roster is important because we will not have all our draft picks the next 2 years

Will he play DE or Dt for us. He's light for a tackle at this point but I'm sure he can gain that size in 1-2 off seasons. Canty was light as well but he turned out pretty decent.

Most of the trades have been swaps of picks which means they still have a pick but it's just lower than it was originally.

Also, 2016 should be the year of comp picks for the Cowboys. The comp picks are primarily based on the contracts signed by departing free agents. Murray and Parnell signed big contracts. Carter got a decent contract. Then there were several low level free agents that might factor into the mix like Melton, Selvie and Spencer.

The Hardy contract will count against the Cowboys in terms of offsets but the fact that it was a 1 year, incentive based deal probably makes it less value in the comp pick formula; although, nobody knows the exact formula.

I loved the pickup. I was hopeful we were drafting him late with one of our 7's. I also liked Deion Barnes late as well and I believe he's on a PS for either TB or NY, not too certain.

We have plenty of draft picks the next 2 years. The most important picks rounds 1-4 we have. Giving up 6 and 7th round picks didn't hurt us especially when we are getting comp picks to counter it

Irving was well worth the shot at putting him on the 53 man roster. Didn't really lose much in clearing room for him (Coleman) and his upside is so high that it could pay big dividends if he hits.

I'm with ya on that one. That wingspan will be put to use. I hope he works out here with us long term.

Good point
By my calculation we will have a normal amount of picks this year and next plus any comps next year

I doubt we resign Hardy
