And the fact that they are very different types of RB makes it even spookier. Have brothers ever run for 1000 yds in a season before?

I'm pretty sure the Morris brothers did it.

Each has lost 1 fumble as well.

Where they differ is as receivers.

Thomas has 27 receptions for 107 yards, 4.0 avg. no TDs.

Julius has 6 receptions for 111 yards, 18.5 avg., no TDs.

No comparison at all between their primary backups.

Benson, 79 carries, 266 yards, 3.4 avg., 3 TDs, 5 receptions, 24 yards, 4.8 avg. No TDs, no fumbles. From a high 1st round draft pick.

Barber, 97 carries, 492 yards, 5.1 avg., 9 TDs, 14 receptions, 146 yards, 10.4 avg., 2 TDs, no fumbles. from a 4th round draft pick.

Mercury Morris had a brother in the NFL? Who and whom did he play for. Mercury only gained 1000 yards one time. That was exactly 1000 in 1972 when he and Larry Csonka became the first teammates to ever do it in the same season. A feat later matched by Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier.

Actually, their running styles are very similar. Thomas is a good bit bigger and breaks more tackles but Julius is a lot faster. Still, they look a lot alike when they run.

Yeah, it was close in 2003. Troy Hambrick had almost 1000 yards, while his brother Darren ran 1000 yards while being chased by the cops the same year.

Regarding the Morris brothers, I believe the reference is to Joe Morris of the Giants and a brother he may have had. I seem to vaguely remember something like this, or equally likely, I'm just hallucinating.

Mike and Greg Pruitt were a good brother RB tandem for the Raiders and Browns in the late 70s/early 80s also but I don't know that either actually cracked the 1,000 yard barrier.

I don't remember Joe having a brother in the NFL either.

Joe Morris had a brother who went to Michigan I believe.
I dont think he had near the success in the NFL Joe had though.

And matched again later by Earnest Byner and Kevin Mack.

Mike and Greg both went over 1000 yds several years but at different times.

Sibling rivalry:
Thomas Jones won’t be on the same field this season as his younger brother, Cowboys running back Julius Jones, unless the Bears face Dallas in the playoffs. But the two are running neck-and-neck on the stat sheet.

While Julius ranks ninth in the NFL in rushing with 734 yards on 180 carries, Thomas is right behind him with 725 yards on 189 attempts. The two are bidding to become the first siblings to rush for 1,000 yards in the same season in NFL history.

"We laugh about it because it’s just ironic that we’re both so close in yards," Thomas said. "It’s so rare that that’s happened. Hopefully we can be the first two (brothers) that rush for 1,000 yards the same season. That’s something that we’re trying to accomplish this year."

Thomas insists that he’s rooting for his brother and the two have not made a wager about who gains more yards. "There’s nothing at stake," he said. "If he gets 1,000 yards and is successful, I’d be just as happy as I would be for me."
