He unfortunately did more to set us back in 3 games than Cassel did yesterday. We should have shoved Cassel in sooner and just taken our lumps. He would have had an earlier start on self critique of game film and been better prepared yesterday. Oh well... Rue rue rue.

Cassel will give us an even better chance this weekend after having a full game of film to study and understand the nuances of where his plays could have been more successful. I think people sometimes underestimate the value of being able to sit down with a coach and go over game film of yourself. Not some other QB... You!

& the legend will live on in relative obscurity...

Cassell, Tyrod Taylor, Ryan Fitz, Matt Schaub....you get rid of Weeden immediately after the 2014 season ended and upgrade the position with one of those guys and we're a 3-3 or 4-2 team right now my word is bond. This organizational disaster has ruined the season.

Cassel had to learn the offense. Even after a month on the team, he still looked rusty yesterday. Some of those balls were total ducks. I think he was pressing just a little bit and having a hard time holding onto the ball. Hopefully he got the jitters out because if he throws those ducks against the Seahawks, they're going to be feasting like carrion crows.

This idea of getting aged re-treads as backup QB's has to stop. Sure, a rookie, high draft pick might throw 3 picks and lose a game like yesterday, but at least he would have potential upside. He may get better. At least there would still be some hope for the future.

That second pick looked more like a punt. It was awful.

Couldn't disagree more....Weeden is no starting QB, but I think we win yesterday's game with him. Cassel made poor decisions all game and showed that his arm is really a noodle.

I think attempting throws like that at inopportune tines is just not completely understanding the offense. Not trying to make excuses in any way. I'm just as pissed as the next person that we let another one get away. But... bottom line, Cassel now can critique himself in the film room (in our system), and we are only 1.5 games out of 1st place in a division where every other team had its own unique set of issues.

Wow. Really? I believe we get throttled with Weeden in there yesterday. No downfield presence and the same old 8/9 in the box. McFadden doesn't get of either because there's no passing threat. It would have been more of the same.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm just tired of lumps. 3 turnover games win less often than games where you can't convert. If we don't take the ball away and play better football around these backups, it just doesn't matter. Pick 6's get you beat more often than not in the NFL. Same with ST scores. We shouldn't be giving either of these backup QBs a pass, but at the same time, good teams play better around their liabilities than we're playing right now. If Tony gets the same level of support when he's back, we'll be back to .500 football, no better.

We are talking about the backup role though. That's "normally" a spot where experience is a major benefit.

100% agree with this. For as many great moves as they made in recent offseasons, their foolish belief in Weeden stands out as a big, pulsing, season crippling error.

You can complain about the lack of defensive turnovers, the run game, poor receivers but at the end of the day this is the crux of the matter. We screwed up at the backup QB position.

Not to mention the checkdowns, which the defenses have now learned that it's all he does, and three and outs galore. At least Cassell had a few first downs and put 20 points on the board.
