We have all watched with amazement the last two days as numerous NFL teams make big trades involving WRs requiring premium round draft picks. Many Cowboys fans are asking, “Why couldn’t we get more than a 5th for Amari Cooper?”

Two reasons:

1. The big thing that happened lowering Cooper’s trade value was Stephen “Giggles” Jones opening his big mouth on the radio and in print and talking publicly about how hard it was going to be to keep Amari at $20 mil a season. He might as well have plastered that on billboards in every NFL city. “The Cowboys are parting ways with Cooper”, thus making it easy to hard bargain the Cowboys in a trade.Stupid, stupid, stupid.
2. The smaller reason was Coop’s decline the last two years. He has only averaged about12 yds per catch the last two seasons, and last year only avg 57.7 yds per game. Not big time receiver stats.

I think the timing due to the fact that they had guaranteed money coming due and had to move on from him was the difference.

The entire NFL knew the Titans wanted to move on from AJ Brown yet they still got a 1st and 3rd for him.

Nepotism without accomplishment ruins any entity. If that's your reason for promotion, you're an idiot. You may have accomplished a lot on your way up, as Jerry obviously did, but when you succumb to nepotism you may as well be a moron. Any credibility you earned gets flushed, immediately.

I want to agree with production but marquise brown's production has been worse and he been injured way more. Our front office is just terrible. One of the worst offseasons of all time tbh. Jus wait til the kelvin jospeh suspension hits

I get why they chose to move Coop. The stupid mistake was talking about it publicly in both print and on the radio. It became obvious the Cowboys were parting ways with Cooper. So why would any NFL organization make a serious trade offer for a guy they already know Dallas is getting rid of? Just incredibly stupid.

It’s ok for them to have decided Coop was not in their plans. Just don’t talk about it.

Man I really appreciate your posts. You are a great poster. But if you think the entire NFL doesn’t know the second part of your post, you are missing the boat. The first part is largely irrelevant.

If a player is worth a lot, teams will bid against each other for that player. If not they won’t.

this is what really really irks me. that’s a self imposed and idiotic deadline they set. what’s worst case scenario they get stuck with their best receiver for another year?
