I would feel remiss if I did not add this to the mix of your giddy girl enthusiasm and baccanalian revery now that we seem destined to go deep into the playoffs.

I have analyzed this Minnisoda team, free and at no cost to you, and have concluded that the key to leaving the Hubert H. Humphrey Hot Air Inflatable Dome with a victory for our sainted Cowboys will be to stop Brett Favre. [/echo chamber]

And not focus entirely on Adrian Peterson.

Adrian Peterson, yes, is dangerous. He will get his yards. He always does.

But first and foremost we have to stop Favre. [/echo chamber]

To stop Favre is to stop their passing game and to make him hurry his handoffs from his aging hands and reflexes.
To stop Favre and keep him in the pocket is to shut him down because Ware and Spencer will git there eventually and often after that.
To stop Favre is to keep their whole team off rhythm. Off sych.

Mind the store and keep Peterson in view.
But first go to stop the wily veteran Favre and you stop the Vikings machine.

They will game plan to attack early and use quick slants and use petersen on screens. They will want to ge the ball out Farve's hands as fast as possible to avoid our heavy pass rush.

We might have to come out and play some nickel and use zone as they might spread their receivers. Guys like Carpenter and Scandrik will be pivotal for us.

I wouldn't spend too much time worrying about Peterson. We will score lots of points and if he breaks one on us it is not the end of the world.

It is more important to keep Favre uncomfortable which means frequently changeing coverages, consistent pressure, occasional blitzing, no big passing plays allowed and secure tackling. He will make some plays but I don't want him to get into a comfortable rhythm. Wade has proven that he is a master of this and knows when, where and how much to blitz such offenses.

I would not sell out coverage to blitz the old man is he will hot read us to death with his receivers.

Rice and Harvin will be difficult covers but luckily we have 3 good CBs to deploy with Sensabaugh and Hamlin providing solid assistance when required.

I really find it hard to believe Minnesota beats us unless:

a. Favre is playing out of his mind
b. Romo is playing horrendous - like the first game against the Giants and the game against the Broncos
c. The OL forgets to show up like the second game against the Giants
d. The coverage in the secondary is horrible like in the Giants game

I do think Vikings are going to try and stay back a lot and hope that Felix and our short passing game can't methodically move the ball downfield against them. Earlier in the year this worked, just like blitzing the heck out of us was also successful. However, this offense has matured and seems to have gone to a different level with Felix in the backfield and Romo dialed into the zone.

I think this is the game that really wakes up the NFL. We will be seen as Super Bowl favourites after we dismantle them on the road. I don't think I've been as confident about a game against a good team since the mid-90s.

Actually, Shiancoe is the one we need to stop after we bottle up the run.

I couldn't disagree more.

You stop Peterson, you stop Favre.

If we cannot contain Peterson, Favre will get that playaction passing game going and our D will be off balance.

Shut down AP, and put yourself in situations where you KNOW it's a pass, and watch Spencer, Ware, Ratliff & co. pin their ears back and eat 'ol Brett alive.

I gottta tell ya I'm not confident at all. Like, the Cowboys really have nothing to lose, but going to the Vikes and being 2.5 point favourites really takes the wind out of my sails. I feel like peoples opnions on Dallas have swayed a little too fast.

Just having home field advantage is a solid three points automaticly. Having less than three points means that despite having a stronger seasonal record, and the home field, that the team itself is considered just a touch below that of the Cowboys. I'll take an 'advantage' of fans in the stands, every time...

Honestly, I think it's Sidney Rice that we have to stop. I have nightmares of what Brandon Marshall did at the end of the game in Denver.

We've contained TE's reasonably well all season, and Harvin is the kind of receiver we fare well against.

But Rice...

I could see Favre taking shots downfield just throwing it up for grabs to Rice. I guess that's what Rivers tried with Vincent Jackson, and we held up except for one play - the one that preceded Gates' touchdown. Hopefully we can do it again.

Their running game is so overrated its disgusting. They are mediocre to bad in every statistic yet people keep touting Petersen, Petersen, Petersen as if that changes the reality of the situation.

They are not a very good running team.

Their is no way they are going to be able to single block our linemen and Kleinsasser is not going to handle Ware or Spencer. Were a top 10 run defense, 8th in YPC.

Over the course of the season, our pass defense has been a mediocre 16th at 83.5. They have had the best passer rating in the NFL this year at 107. Thats what we need to worry about but as we showed in Philly and New Orleans as of late our pass defense has improved.

On offense i think our interior lineman can block Wiliams x2 better than anyone else in the league and Columbo and Adams outweigh Allen and that other DE by 50 lbs. Ill take the matchup of our TEs and FB over their depleted LB corps any day of the week.

They don't have the horses to keep up Austin and Witten in the passing game and they know it. Winfield is their only notable player in the secondary and hes been bad lately. They are going to have to give safety help.

Realistically if we don't get killed in the turnover battle, I just don't see us losing.

We are 2.5 point underdogs, not favorites.

With all due respect, Fuzzy, even though Peterson wasn't MVP worthy this season his 1,383 yards and 18 TDs is absolutely nothing to scoff at. We haven't had a running back that "overrated" in a very, very long time. Sleeping on Peterson would be a major no no.

Most analysts disagree with that. If Peterson can't run or the vikes can't get someone running the ball effectively Brett is a dead man. Both of the Minn tackles have struggled with speed rushers, peppers had a field day as he was all over Brett. Brett is not the mobile QB he once was so Dallas is not going to try and keep him in the pocket they are going to bury him.

Shiancoe is not that dangerous. 11 TDs is impressive to be sure, but he still only had 50 something catches for a 10 yard average. Obviously they throw the ball to him in the red zone, and he can move the chains, but I don't think he's as good as Celek, and we contained him just fine.

Celek is a much better TE. Faster, more athletic, bigger threat all over the field. I think we'll do just fine against Favre's security blanket.

If you don't stop Peterson, you might as well purchase your vacation plane tickets for the day after the game.
