I am not sure you can make a long term determination on a rookie QB (unless the totally suck it up) until 5 or 6 games into the season. D coordinators are going to be watching more and more film on both these guys as it becomes available and they are going to work at taking away what the think they can do well and leave them with what they think they don't do well.

It will be the QB that is able to deal with those game plans that have a long term future in this league.

But wait....I was told Cedric Thornton was a stud. Heard it right here. Even though my eyes told me he was garbage. Everyone said we would be fine in the middle of our D.

I was one of them. Other than some flashes by McClain................ the interior DL was awful. So were the DEs.

This team is going to need to a total overhaul of the DL IMO.

Lol.. browns defense looked like they were playing vanilla. That team is very bad. Dak had 6 drops by his receivers , that giants defense line is for real

We need to start drafting SMART players. I'm sick of seeing these dumb moments. How the hell do you not move dez around 50% of the time atleast in the slot? He would own the middle of the field

Exactly. Wentz plays probably the worse team in the league and now he is suddenly amazing and way better than Dak. If Dak were playing at home vs the Browns we would have murdered them and Dak would have looked amazing. Dak looked very solid out there vs a legit football team. We lost by 1 freaking point! The beasley or Dez drop alone could have made the difference. I'm excited about Dak. I just hope the pieces around him can do better.

It's not the players, it is their coaching staff. It will never change as long as Jerry and Co are picking the coaches too.

I missed when the Browns were demoted from the NFL.

Fact is, as bad as the Browns are, Wentz looked very good in his first start ever (and had only like 35 snaps total in the preseason). You couldn't ask for a better start for a rookie QB on a team that, frankly, doesn't have a lot of weapons.
Dak looked very good too against a much better defense with receivers who couldnt catch a cold this game.

Wentz did look good. He was off some throws though. But also his receivers dropped a lot of passes. Like right in their hands accurate throws were dropped.
He will get better.
But also they did played the Browns and the Eagles defense played RG3, who did not look improved at all. Need to see them against a better team.

I watched Wentz play as well and what I saw was a creative HC calling plays to be successful. I also saw his WR'S and TE'S helping him out a lot.

Our HC played conservative and scared as usual. Having Beas back at PR late in the game is all you need to know about our HC.

We haven't won a home game since Week 1 of last year. That's pathetic.

Except many of the same people who are preaching patience were saying this last week - Giants D is garbage even with all their money spent, Dak is a legit QB prospect who will light the Giants up with the talent he has on offense, that Elliott is going to run wild all over them, etc. And when other people suggested that maybe they should slow their roll, they got laughed at as being negative ninnies.

So apparently, overreactions BEFORE a game where people predict domination and pain are OK but overreactions AFTER a game when we look largely inept............ well, we can't have that.

Those are the same people who predicted a 40-3 Cowboys blowout in the Pickle Bowl.

Definitely not Witten last year as a Cowboys. I can't judge Crawford until there is a pass rush again. With our defensive ends coming back Demarcus Lawrence will command the Doble teams..not Crawford.

I do think he might just retire. He can still move to get open but, he just can't run any longer. He looks like a bull stuck in mud when
he tries to turn up field and run. I love the guy but, players so get old and slower with age. He will be hard to replace because he's
a top notch pro in all respects.

He looked fine. He missed badly on some deeper throws and he also had some WRs drop the ball. But you won't find any unbiased fan that would say Prescott had a better opening day than Wentz did.

That doesn't mean Dak has no future but for first impressions, it was an OK game.

Actually, I wasn't that impressed with the Eagles D. For all their hype, RG3 was able to move the ball on them at times and I think the Eagles CBs are still weak. They were one bizarre tipped pass from scoring a TD on the Eagles and taking the lead.

Front seven is legit though. I am disgustingly jealous of their DL compared to ours.

Wentz also got a lot of help from them. Center snaps ball over RG3's head for a safety. Sproles returns a punt for like 40 yards. It's a team game.

Oh I agree. I posted a thread regarding why there is even a screen designed for Witten in our playbook. Like really. Lol. They threw more screens to Witten than to Zeke.

Nice. Absolve professional players of making mistakes they have been taught to avoid since their days playing junior high football.

Coaches should be criticized for making in-game decisions that do not effectively counter the other teams' efforts. They should also be criticized for not maximizing the talents of their players. Ditto for coaches needing to be criticized for playing the wrong players they have at their disposal.

However, Coaches coach in-game situations. Garrett and his staff, like all coaches, coached what to do after you, as a player, catch a pass, as the clock is winding down before the half or the end of the game. But it's automatically assumed that it's the coaches fault that players don't do what they should already know what to do since the coaches have already told them what to do during the course of goodness knows how many practices that preceded the games?

To me, it's more likely that Jones acquires dumb players but okay.

The FO is guilty of drafting dumb players too, but Jerry is also guilty of hiring mediocre coaches as well that are not very good at teaching situational awareness. We have all seen the same boneheaded mistakes by multiple players on this team. A better coached team rarely has players making those type of mistakes. You can defend the coaching staff until the cows come home but this is a poorly coached team. It's not the coaches fault either, they are just mediocre coaches doing what mediocre coaches do. 20+ years of very little success... why? You tell me.
