He looked fine. He missed badly on some deeper throws and he also had some WRs drop the ball. But you won't find any unbiased fan that would say Prescott had a better opening day than Wentz did.

That doesn't mean Dak has no future but for first impressions, it was an OK game.
If it were Dak who played the Browns and Wentz who played the Giants, then people would be praising Dak this morning and not Wentz. You have to look at who these guys are playing. I guess in time we will all know more.

The FO is guilty of drafting dumb players too, but Jerry is also guilty of hiring mediocre coaches as well that are not very good at teaching situational awareness. We have all seen the same boneheaded mistakes by multiple players on this team. A better coached team rarely has players making those type of mistakes. You can defend the coaching staff until the cows come home but this is a poorly coached team. It's not the coaches fault either, they are just mediocre coaches doing what mediocre coaches do. 20+ years of very little success... why? You tell me.
Better coaches probably have better players.

In my opinion, Dunbar and Williams would have made the same mistakes in a game under Belichick. The question is what a "better coach" like Belichick would have done with either player before the next game was played?

To remain on topic for the day...no one dared, but the Green Beret.

Doug Free is the weak link of the offensive line. His run blocking is good enough but pass rushers with adequate speed and strength can overcome his pass blocking consistently enough.

Free can usually fend off a straight line bull rush but his lack of lateral mobility doesn't allow him to get his hands solidly on a defender penetrating either of his shoulders. When that happens, Free is like a matador at a bullfight and the defender is the bull. "OLE!"

I'm wondering if his legs aren't just finally gone?

The Giants defense definitely looked better than the Browns. No, I'm not taking away from Wentz. He did look good but I think the comparisons are a little apples to oranges. If Dez/Beasley catch those TD throws it would be a whole different tune being sung about Dak this morning.

The Browns probably have another top pick in this next draft...

Your right...

Doug Free can't block a guy that is playing w/ one freaking hand....let that sink in.

Free might do better if he plays against a guy with only 2 fingers next time.

We need to start drafting SMART players. I'm sick of seeing these dumb moments. How the hell do you not move dez around 50% of the time atleast in the slot? He would own the middle of the field

Players come and go and yet we keep making the same dumb mental mistakes. Might have something to do with our poor coaching.

Don't get the dak vs. wentz comparisons.
The eagles paid the price to get wentz( thanks vikes for the rebate)
We gave a 4 round supplemental for dak and he can play. If anyone wants to to make a comparison it should be made to Goff.
If wentz turns out to be legit how does Jeff fisher not get shredded

Actually, I wasn't that impressed with the Eagles D. For all their hype, RG3 was able to move the ball on them at times and I think the Eagles CBs are still weak. They were one bizarre tipped pass from scoring a TD on the Eagles and taking the lead.

Front seven is legit though. I am disgustingly jealous of their DL compared to ours.

Eagles D is legit. They were running a prevent D on the last drive w/ a 3-man front. Cleveland rushed for 40 yards on 3 plays against that prevent to end the game. Down by 19...and Cleveland ran the ball 3 times with less than a minute left and no timeouts. Basically the white flag was thrown..

That's a possibility but he's still powers through the punch off the snap in his run blocking. I'm thinking it's more to do with his mobility than strength.

He may get game legs as time proceeds. The Giants are a large and mobile group upfront, also. But to me, he seems awful top heavy in his approach now, and a really odd stance to come out of.

Hmm.. Fair enough. They may have made the mistake but would have been punished in a way that they would remember never to something like that again. JG on the other hand just claps and smiles.. and says.. "That's ok".

You don't really have to look. Wentz showed a better touch on deep balls. Doesn't matter who they played, Wentz was just more accurate on deep balls for the first week. Doesn't mean that he'll be better Week 2. Maybe Dak outplays him this week.

But the fact remains, Wentz just looked better yesterday. Why is that so hard for some Cowboys fans to just admit that?

Not really. Browns moved the ball on them at times earlier in the game too. They moved the ball right down the field on them before the tipped pass that resulted in an interception. If the Eagles LB doesn't tip the ball with his finger tip, that's a TD as the WR was open and had separation from the DB.

I think the Eagles secondary, specifically the CBs, are a real weakness.
