I am lukewarm on this, wanted anyone other than Takk or Watt. We shall see how it plays out but am still concerned with the pass rush, the whole defense really.

A relatively simple DL scheme, with simple assignments and the freedom to get upfield should be just what the Dr. ordered for a physical specimen like Taco. He is a DE born and bred.

He isn't a RDE though. Not fulltime for sure. He is a very nice piece to add to the rotation though.

Your angst is probably misplaced.

His problem is his complete lack of explosiveness. You can't teach a guy how to be explosive. Reminds me of Greg Ellis. Good player, good against the run, good at holding the point of attack, but nothing great, nothing that makes you game plan for him. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.

I'm guessing playing with a bad ankle does that (others have said here he played with last year).

I understand the sentiment, but at 28 we're basically gettin high second rounders.

Think of it this way... Did you at least see a good player when you were watching his highlights?

Because that's kind of what we need. Load up Pedigree on the DL.

Yeah, a good player, but we need someone who can really get after the quarterback and I just don't see him doing that in the NFL.

This looks like a guy Rod wanted. Well you got him so now it's time to back up this belief you are a DL whisperer.

If this team struggles to get to the Aqaba in 2017, new contract or not, you may have to wonder if Rod really still has the touch.
Kind of reaching with this post. The Cowboys finally spend a 1st on a DE and you expect him to come in and solve all the pass rush issues.

Taco at RDE would get neutralized quickly by good LT. Has almost no burst. His position is LDE and Irving will move inside to DT is likely. Team is still in search of RDE. Maybe they can get someone after June 1st cuts but I don't see teams letting those guys go. Might be time to call Ware. I know he just retired last week but things just got serious.
Most rookies struggle against good LT until they develop some. I bet Dallas front office knows what they are doing more so then you........no disrespect by the way

Greg Ellis had 84 sacks. That is where I'm placing the line. Are you over or under?

300:1 Taco never gets to 84 sacks.

This was a need pick. In a normal draft Charlton would be a third rounder. There weren't much to pick from at defensive end...but we needed one.

All Rod's fault.

Gregory suspended, Lawrence continuous injuries/suspensions, Crawfords injuries, lack of talent on defense in general = Rod's fault.

We weren't getting that at 28. Only other option was to take a CB and then no pass rusher at all would be left at 60. I'm lukewarm on this pick. Seems like another guy we already have 6 of on the team.

That's what you get at pick 28.

If teams felt lik he was a player that was truly a sure thing disruptive force, he wouldn't have made it out of the top 10

If we get Greg Ellis at pick 27, that's a steal.

And you'll make excuses for him til the end of time. When can we judge him? 2021?

never ever draft a D lineman without a non stop motor.

Well...some of these pundits are saying the same thing about Garrett.

I remember reading similar scouting reports on Watt as well...JJ Watt, that is.
