Now ask yourself the following question: How many of these guys even got 10% of the media attention Terrell Owens gets per "incident" with any of these incidents?

For whatever reason, you fail to recognize that the media made Terrell Owens into someone who does "attention grabbing things."

Hardly anything he does would garner much attention if it were done by anyone else.

It garners attention because they've decided he's charismatic enough to sell controversy.

Oh look. Rosenhaus to the rescue.:lmao2:

I'll say this about TO, he could learn a lot that would help him by following Marion Barber's lead.

Just shut up. No matter what you say, it will cause a stir. Cork it, zip it, shut your festering gob.

Take a lesson from the whale TO, the only time he gets harpooned is when he comes up to spout.

Do you think his "talking" affects the team?

It does because reporters walk up to players and say, "did you hear what TO said?"

If you were a player, would you want to answer questions about him?

I think they should charge the players every time one of their teammates asks a question about them. That would be my ruling in the Kangaroo Court. At the very least he would owe every other teammate dinner every time they have to defend him.

It's just an unnecessary addition to the locker room. Nate Newton was quotable too, but did he ever cause anywhere close to the mess we had this year? I'm not saying that is TO's fault either.

Just tell all of them, "next question." If he doesn't talk, they have nothing to report.

Rrrriiiggghhhttt.

Because the media made T.O. do that "Desperate Housewives" opening for Monday Night.

Because the media made T.O. sit down and do an interview with Deion Sanders.

Because the media made T.O. do sit ups outside of his house while he was suspended from the Eagles.

Because the media made T.O. come to the press podium after ever game.

Because the media made T.O. write "Little T.O. Learns to Share" children's books.

Because the media made T.O.'s former publicist say "He has 50 million reasons (or how many reasons he had) to live."

Because the media made T.O. ride a stationary bike in a sleek biking outfit while his teammates were practicing.

Because the media compells T.O. to give an interview to Playboy where he suggests Jeff Garcia is "gay."

Because the media made T.O. say to his Coach Andy Reid, "My name is not Andy Reid Jr."

Because the media made T.O. rat on McNabb that he "choked" in the playoffs.

Because the media makes T.O. take off his shirt to display his abs to every fitness magazine there is.

Wow. I need to get this "media power" you guys are talking about. Maybe I can get my wife to do some things I want her to. :laugh1:

Good post Hos.

Yes 5, it does hurt the team.

I personally believe the sit down with Deion Sanders, his constant criticism of the Playcalling and complaining about the lack of passes in the Washington game, even though it was the most passes thrown his way as a Cowboy and Marion Barber getting 4 rushing attempts polarizes certain segments of the lockerroom and front office.

The guy is a competitor and I know it absolutely kills him to hear people saying he lost a step or he got shutdown by Shawn Springs.

However, he just never learns that doing the faux sitdown interviews with shills like Deion Sanders isn't the way to solve problems.

Funny thing about Terrell Owens is that he absolutely abhors the media but when things aren't going his way, he is the first one to do the "faux" interviews and go straight to the media. He did this with Jeff Garcia, Donovan Mcnabb, his position coach in Philadelphia who told him to shutup, Drew Bledsoe, Bill Parcells and now Jason Garrett.

And you feel this causes players to not prepare for games? To play badly?

What happens to players when they have REAL crisis in their lives like sick children, money woes or any other million things that occurs outside the locker room?

and I can honestly say that TO was playing the hardest in that game. He was fighting for the ball and finishing his routes. Roy Williams was open once during the first passing down and was covered like a glove the rest of the time. He ran his route than seemed to stop.

No, I feel it causes them to get pissed off. Possibly at him, and it reduces positive energy and thus chemistry.

I know how it affected some of my college teammates when 4 guys got kicked off the team. One of them was an All American. You get sick of answering.

I asked you a question, would you like to answer questions about your teammate rather than about yourself?

Be real, no one likes that.

Now ask yourself the following question: How many of these guys even got 10% of the media attention Terrell Owens gets per "incident" with any of these incidents?

Sigh.

One of the weakest forms of debate is to compare a non-criminal issue with a criminal issue.

Why?

Because it presumes that the only thing in life we have to be concerned about is criminal activity. It presumes that only criminal activity is bad. Everything else that is non-criminal is good.

That is flawed logic.

My boss expects me to be a team player. He expects me to be a non-criminal also. But just being a non-criminal doesn't mean I am free to act up in a non-criminal way.

Furthermore, there are people who do have criminal charges who are very good employees and people who don't have criminal charges who are not very good employees. Don't confuse the two.

Second, the reason why the media may not do as much on criminal charges is because it knows that those charges have to make their way through court. There's a time, place and procedure for a charge to be proven or disproven. The media trust the legal system to ultimately weigh in on a charge. That's the court's responsibility.

But the media are more concerned about the court of public opinion. That's where they involve themselves. So if a player is not being a team player and a player is complaining to the media, of course, the media are going to focus on that player moreso than they would someone who has a criminal charge but isn't constantly talking about it in the press (which any good lawyer would tell you not to do).

Sorry, I missed your question.

I don't see how answering ANY question would be much of a bother...

Then you never played at a level where the scrutiny could bother you.

Sorry, but if you can't imagine how annoying that would be, then you aren't thinking about it hard enough.

You said if a player said it, you would believe it. Listen to Rat's interview.
It isn't owens specific so it won't hurt your feelings to bad.
But he discusses what "talking" and team chemistry means.

You might learn some thing.

The old "you never played at the level I did so you are wrong" statement, huh?

Maybe you were just easily "distracted".

I think he is talking about Werder's "rat", correct?
