Even if it is indirect and unfair and not his fault he is still disruptive by ending up causing other players to have to talk about him on sideline interviews or during the week. He is by no means the only problem but he is a problem.
Oh and here is something specific - THREE times this year, at least that I recall, he caught a pass and had to move forward 1/2 yard for a first and instead backpeddled like Pac Man returning a punt and lost the first down. After all these years in the league you cant blame that on coaching. That's a sign of a selfish player.

What? Are you serious? You think he didn't pick up the first down because he's SELFISH?

Damn. And people think those of us who defend T.O, have a distorted sense of reality.

And I'm sure the players having to answer questions about Terrell Owens really affects their play. Oh no, instead of "what do you guys have to do to come away with a win," Suzy Kolber is asking Tony Romo if things are good between he and T.O. That obviously will stay with Tony as he goes into the huddle and it'll lead to him throwing interceptions and fumbling the ball.

It amazes me that people think teams need to be asked the same hackneyed, boring, nauseating questions (and the players have to give the same generic, boring, nauseating answers) that have been going on since the beginning of time in order to perform on the football field.

Terrell Owens runs out of bounds a lot.

His YAC yards have been paltry since he's been in Dallas.

YR......catches.....Total Yards after catch.....avg per catch

2008 - 69 - 291 - 4.22
2007 - 81 - 358 - 4.42
2006 - 85 - 400 - 4.71

I'll give you another one to ponder:
Blaming T.O. for Dallas' troubles is like putting "Obama" stuff all over your car. Takes no courage, no originality, no nuggets to do that. Because you're just "going with the flow", the "cool" thing to do, the "chic" and popular opinion. Put a "George Bush" bumper sticker on your car............now THAT takes nuggets and guts.
............

Take it to the political zone.

I'm still waiting for ANY concrete evidence or example of Owens doing or saying ANYTHING untrue or out of line concerning this team.........
Everything he said appears to be true. Look at the results.
Somehow or other, if T.O. says it "out loud", it's controversial and "open for interpretation". Usually to his detriment.
After the Eagle game, "confusion, no timing, no chemistry, misplaced priorities, bad decisions, uninspired play, bad coaching", and basically "what the frig are we doing" comes to mind. T.O. just says it out loud, and THAT alone is reason to "get rid of T.O."
Never mind that WE ALL THINK THE SAME THING!!!! Thank God we have someone ACTUALLY ON THE TEAM who thinks what we fans think. Thank God for T.O........................

You are missing the point, whether he said something about the team or not, that is not the point. The point is the media is attracted to him in a negative way from his past and that creates a circus which in turn creates distractions. TO is one of the best WR's to play the game but he is also turning 35 and has lost a step. If his past wasn't what it was maybe the media would be calling him the inspiration of Dallas but we are talking about what ifs here, and that is not reality.

Same with Pacman. He has the talent (somewhere) but is it worth the media circus, which causes distractions?

The only one I have heard say the locker room and huddle is tight is Tashard Choice, a rookie.

It's clear to me that this is like the "Pete Rose" disease around here.
That is, what you thought about Pete Rose during his playing days, then that's you opinion about whether he should be in the Hall of Fame. He'll NEVER lose the baggage.
Personally, I had NO USE for T.O. before he came to Dallas. Me and 50 million other people. But, I have no choice on who Jerry brings to the prom. So as soon as he was on board, I at least gave him a little lee-way, and a "we'll see" attitude. We have no choice in the matter. He's "one of us" now. For all you "team" guys out there, THAT'S the correct "TEAM" approach. Love him or hate him, he's on your team now, so at least give him the opportunity to show the world that he's changed and grown up and all.
And in doing just that, any honest observer HAS to admit that the T.O. of Dallas is NOTHING compared to the T.O. of old. Nothing even close!
But, as I observed, I know he brought his own self-made baggage, so he's gonna' have to carry that the rest of his life. Even when they induct him into the H.O.F. (which will happen), there'll still be many who, on the very day of his induction, talking about "T.O. the problem child".
Some people, just by simple human nature, once they been offended or "put off" or disgusted by another................that's gonna' be his M.O. the rest of his life. No matter how much change or improvement or "growing up" he does, He'll forever wear the label. No matter how much he repents or ask's for another chance, forget it.
From what I've read here, that's the cross that T.O.'s gonna' have to bear with many people.

Why is it TO's press conference after the game gets more attention than Wade, Jerry or Romo? Why does TO even have a press conference?????

This team does not revolve around TO, the World does not revolve around TO and if the truth be known this team and world is better off with out TO!

This whole thread proves TO is a distraction to a winning team. Are we working on getting a better team? No! we are still disccusing the cancer known as TO and you brought it up again because you KNOW he is a distraction! There are more threads about TO than the rest of the problems the team has. That right there should give you a good idea of how big of a problem TO is. This team has many problems and TO is the biggest problem. He is NOT the solution! Curly

Cutting Terrell Owens is not going to make the Cowboys better. We may get less air time on ESPN(if thats possible), but they'll move to another player to set up as the "fall guy".

Terrell Owens is not even on the top 10 list of things wrong with this team. Tony Romo is more of a problem, but getting rid of him would be just as stupid as getting rid of Owens.

The guy is honest, to a fault, I get that. He says what everyone is thinking, and doesn't care about being PC about it. You can't have it both ways....

You want a guy that will sugar coat it and act as everything is roses? Or do you want a guy that pretty much will tell you what the problem is? TO has only said what most know to be true, he just gets blasted for saying what most of us come here and post throughout the season when things are going crappy.

The guy wears his emotions on his sleeve, I am glad that someone on that team wants to win that bad.

Yep, it's been a magical, wonderful, controversy-free journey. Here's to one more year of the same.

Well, that's your right, but I don't have to "give" Terrell Owens jack.

I'm a fan of the Dallas Cowboys franchise. I don't have to root for him. One can be a fanatic of this team without wanting to join some self-promoting Terrell Owens-based cult. I root for the offense, defense and special teams for which he is only an individual player of... and that's just on offense. Additionally, I had done so for 30 years prior to him being here and, if blessed, will do so for 30 or more years after his playing days in Dallas are over.

These are not the Terrell Owens Cowboys. He's not lined up at 22 different positions for 60 minutes every game. He's not standing on the sidelines pretending to be the StayPuff MarshMallow Man or even Red Jesus. He's only one player who is being paid an enormous sum of money by Jerry Jones to do a job just like many other players. If I didn't know better, I would think that, based on the testimony of some, Owens donned a Cowboys uniform as a favor to Jones and contributed his entire contract to charity. please.

Actually you're at risk of evoking an unwanted negative reaction with ANY political bumper sticker.

Especially depending on where you display that bumper sticker. In a conservative community, Obama bumper stickers are definitely not en vogue.

In fact, my doctor told me that one of the doctors in his practice was asking people who they would vote for and when a nurse said, "Obama," he verbally attacked her.

So it really wasn't a very good analogy. But a swam through it to get his point.

Terrell Owens needs to go. I don't think this offense should be built around him. His eratic behavior and "status" on the team is hurting this team. His comments in the media are under-cutting the offensive coordinator and quarterback.

As Mike Singletary said, "Can't win with him, can't do it. He's got to go"

Getting rid of Tank, Pacman, and Owens is the first step to getting this lockerrom back to one piece. It is the first step to ensuring Tony Romo is the sole leader of that offense. It is the first step to showing that Tony Romo is the face of the franchise.

If Romo can't demand accountability out of Owens, he can't do it to the rest of the offensive players. His leadership is under-cut, and he looks weak. The defensive players need to know Romo is the leader. If he sinks, the franchise sinks, not Owens.
