The next two weeks - the season is not over

Reasons for some short term optimism:

Giants vs:
Bucs - Bucs have a decent defense, are coming off a good game and most importantly the Giants are worn down and can't cover the tight end if Beason does not play, which caters to what Winston has had success with. Saints also just gave some more views into how to attack the Giants.
Patriots - The Patriots defense and offense is better than the Saints..

Eagles vs:
Dallas - They don't have the LOB or really any corner that can cover Dez, Bradford is not scrambling anywhere
Dolphins - The Dolphins can be very efficient on offense if you don't take away the short game on them. They have some renewed fight with a new head coach - need one more week to see how they play. Eagles likely win this one, but not as much a sure thing as it was early in the year.

Dallas vs:
Eagles - Both teams are error prone and inconsistent. Average QB's on both sides.
Bucs - We match up well against the Bucs offense - QB playing field is level. Just need a running game and no turnovers.

I know we are all doom and gloom here but all 3 of these teams are mediocre and have plenty of weaknesses, which gives them all a decent chance to lose every week. Dallas is the only one missing their best player who has a direct impact on every offensive play and how teams play us both offensively and defensively.

Just curious (and before anyone jumps down my throat, I think we win at least one of the next two and remain alive for Miami):

When will it be enough for some to consider it over? Seven losses? Eight?

If Dallas loses one more game, then yeah the season is pretty much over

Our rope is getting close to the end though. Every week we keep being optimistic because our divisional opponents suck as well but we are running out of chances. I'm pretty sure this game coming up is truly do or die. This is actually a "must win".

I had it at six as I don't think Romo runs the table and we lose a game or two with him.

I see us on life support going to Miami.

Since the only way in now is the division, yes, it pretty much is.

They need to win the next 2 to stay in it. Not even Romo can save them if they are 3-6 or 2-7 when he gets back. At 4-5, there's hope.

I don't know why you didn't list the Skins, they have just as much of a shot at the division as the rest of the teams in the East, including the Cowboys.

The next two weeks - the season is not over---------------Only and I mean only because of how bad the NFC East is as a division !!!!!

Lose next 2 and it's over
1 in the division, both in conference
Both against bottom 10 teams

Nine losses is the limit and I don't believe that works. At most 7 is likely but who knows in this division. 8-9 wins is probably the edge of possibility.

After yesterday, I thought we were pretty much done.

Then I looked at next week's schedule.

Commanders at Patriots
Giants at Bucs
Eagles at Cowboys

If Sunday is a great day for us, here's what the standings would look like entering Week 10.

Giants 4-5
Cowboys 3-5
Eagles 3-5
Commanders 3-5

Well if we win 1 of the next two, there's still no guarantee we can run the table when Romo gets back. This team has some problems on offense, and that problem is Garrett.

Well the level of opponent will be a little weaker, winning 1 of the next 2 preferably against the Eagles keeps us in the division race. Nothing is guaranteed but with Romo back and the running game looking better the offense will be much better with Romo back.

 love these "our turd smells better than your turd" threads. .......guess if it makes you feel better, more power to you.

Here's to hoping we better get the DirectTV Romo immediately when he comes back. No chance if we get the Cable Romo for first couple of games.

Good post. People are forgetting that the Giants and Eagles have games to play too that they need to win. There is still hope.

I think the Eagles are going to give us a run for our money on Sunday night. Im hoping we can run early and often and have some big plays down the field with Dez, as I think his conditioning and confidence on that foot will be much higher. Maxwell doesn't scare me as a CB and definitely don't think he can handle Dez.

It's just sad that we'd be dominating this division if it wasn't for the injuries (especially to Romo) and suspensions. As it is, we are barely alive.
