Well, yeah, it is ours to lose because if we don't win it, it will be because we lost. We are in fact in sole possession of first place.

Is this likely, though? Way too early to tell.

Everyone here knows how this team can turn on a dime. Last week, we were in trouble and the season was in question(public opinion). Today, a very nice game and we are the favorites now(again, public perception), yadda yadda.

Lets see a string of consistent football before accommodations are handed out. We lose next week in SD, we will likely be 2-3 after Denver. This team could also beat the Broncos, we don't know due to inconsistency.

I do know one thing, our defense is above average, almost great so far. Today was a good start to get something special going, they looked like a complete and confident team out there. Most of the problems and complaints from last week seemed fixed and/or adjusted :)

The OP said the division is ours to lose.

He is right.

The rest of the division have put themselves in pretty large holes.

We have a lot of work still to do.

But we are certainly in the catbird seat.

What is the entire division loses again next week which is very possible? Then what?

we would be 2-2 and only a game ahead of the eagles

0-3 Giants
0-3 Commanders
1-2 Eagles
2-1 Cowboys.

We're clearly in the drivers seat, the Giants are a full three games behind us due to the tiebreaker. We completely wiped the floor with the Rams. It's early but we look like a good team and the rest of the division look atrocious.

This is crazy talk. Lol

If after 8 games we are all 4-4 and 3-5.... It's a pick 'em.

And that is very possible.

Then we will be in the same exact position we are in this week.

In the driver's seat.

Nobody said it's over. For God's sakes it's week 3.

But thanks to the putrid start by the rest of our division mates...we control our own destiny and look to be the best team...by far.

Also nice to have a division win in the bag.

How?

Did you not look at these teams before the season?

We easily had the best team coming into the year.

What was our biggest weakness coming into the year? A guard? Whoopdie do.

Not really, on paper, the d-line was a huge question mark, as well as safety. So far, Nick Hayden and George Selvie are playing great and Church is playing very well also. None of these were sure things, and the turn around by Doug Free is nothing short of miraculous.

The NFL is weird now.

A team that looks like one of the worst teams in the NFL early can get hot, sneak in the playoffs, and win the SuperBowl. Years ago that was virtually impossible. The difference between winning and losing in the league is less than it has ever been. Literally each game is it's own entity ... world-beaters one week, little sisters of the poor the following one. That's why getting ugly wins in today's NFL is so important. Every single team is going to play a crap-load of ugly games.

I think leadership, character, play calling, and all of the little intangible factors mean more in this era of football than ever before because the talent differential between teams is so small.

So yeah that's my long-winded way of saying it's WAY TO EARLY to anoint anyone as anything yet.

It's going to be very hard for the Giants or Commanders to dig out of an 0-3 hole, and I can't see Michael Vick surviving 13 more games taking the pounding he's getting in Chip Kelly's Pac-12 offense. I really like the Cowboys' chances, at least at the moment.

What's Kiffen's problem? He can't be satisfied with a 24 point win? Why isn't he lighting up a cigar like Rob Ryan? What is he, some kind of realist or something?

Based on the early results I am quite optimistic about the Cowboys' chances. NY and Washington have been really struggling. Philly could be tough though, because I think Chip Kelly is the real deal. I don't think he has his team right where he wants them yet, so Dallas should have an advantage there too.

Waaay too early. Skin was 3 games under .500 last year I think and came back to win the division. Until we at least beat all our opponents in the division at least once I wouldn't be thinking this AT ALL.

That is sound logic, my man. We saw a good outing against a below average team in the trenches. Lets see this again with another good OL and DL outing against a good team.

LOL.

last week, the sky was falling. this week, the division is ours to lose.

last week, we all needed to be reminded that it's a long season and that there's plent of football left to play. looks like we still need to practice saying that mantra.

Speak for yourself, please. Some on here know it's a long season and that last week was far from a devastating, season ending loss.

Not trying to look at the big picture quite yet, but I do have to say, I'm loving these positive vibes, like night and day compared to last week. Also, oddly enough, a win today makes me feel much better about a one point road loss vs. KC

Not happening again. I'm going to keep saying this everytime you post this nonsense. That was last year and it doesn't happen very often and IT'S NOT HAPPENING THIS YEAR.

The Commanders made similar runs to make the playoffs in 2005 and 2007, so just saying it's not gonna happen, doesn't make it so.

First of all 2005 and 2007 have NOTHING to do with this year so bringing that up is irrelevant.
Second in 05 they were never under .500 let alone 3 games under .500
Third in 05 and 07 they didn't win the division.

As yes I'm saying it won't happen and will continue to.

Unlikely but never say never.
One thing to remember about the Commanders is that RG 3 didn't have a preseason with the 1st team offense. His knees is still recovering and getting use to contact but it will get better as the year goes on assuming no further injuries. He will slowly get more strength and gain more speed. Then he will be able to run the read option better. I wouldn't be writing them off completely. I think G men is in deep deep trouble.
