IF NFLPA and Zeke can file their papers before NFL does this thing could nd up in Minnesota where Doty is, he is Goodell's kryptonite. I am 50/50 on this but Goodell and his 4 person panel may get harpooned in court and if that is done Goodell and his panel will have no other choice but to leave due the destruction of any perceived authority and credibility they would have. I would even bet if the NFLPA won in court they would ask for Goodell's head fearing backlash in future cases.

@Reality I think the NFL had their hands tied with EE's case. They screwed the pooch one too many times with these DV cases that EE's case never really had a chance because they already had a predetermined outcome. Do we really think if the NFL didn't suspend EE for at least more than one game the media would leave it at that?

In all this, the media has been forefront and center because they are the ones that are poking holes in the NFL's decisions in all these cases. It doesn't matter what the accused did or didn't do, the more important thing is how does the NFL continue to cater to a family audience and increase sales? That's what matters at the end of the day right? Does little Johnny Jr still root for his favorite team that has a "woman beater" player on it with Johnny Sr and Mommy Jane on the Sunday Ticket? Take a "hard line approach" to social issues to show that you "care", but don't have any type of standards for punishment.

If the NFL cared about these social issues the punishments would be standardized and more harsh.

there is some truth to that. Mixon is someone they cannot do anything to but it looks back on the league, so they insert Zeke and he pays for all the guys who didnt get punished in the past

The NFL is trying to win favor with the media (which will NEVER happen) at the expense of the fans and itself. The NFL needs to wake up and realize they don't need the media .. they need the fans. If the media stops broadcasting games, the NFL can sell those games directly and make even more money.

If the NFL thought that was true they'd already be doing it. They made $13 billion last year, the most of any pro sports league in history.

The NFL makes money. It makes money for its owners. It makes money for its players. It makes money for the cities where the games are played. That money comes from the fans, either directly or indirectly. The NFL needs to refocus their strategy on winning fans over.

They're projected to make $14 billion this year, despite fans complaining on the internet. Until that number drops significantly, don't expect major changes.

"they need the fans"

However,

.......The NFL makes money. It makes money for its owners. It makes money for its players. It makes money for the cities where the games are played. That money comes from the fans, either directly or indirectly.

By your own analysis, they already have the fans, regardless,

The NFL needs to refocus their strategy on winning fans over.

Why, what is their incentive? You've already noted that they are making plenty of money. In fact, isn't that why Jerry Jones was inducted? Isn't this why Goodall will get a new extension? They don't need to change a single thing.

I absolutely agree with you, this has to change, Many things must change. In my ever so humble opinion, here are a few:

1. Stop changing the rules of the game.

It's not even real football anymore, just some sick genetic crossbreed of football and "flag" football.

Stop dilluting the game to make things safer for the players. Change the players and keep the game of football safe from assault by special interest groups with agendas to turn us all into soft little kittens .The game of football owes absolutely nothing to the players. They want to be safe? Stop playing.

There should be a six year or 2nd major injury limit on playing in the NFL, The average career is only 3.5 years so only about 15% of NFL players would be affected by this. They are the ones with the greatest problems, you can see that the majority of player complaints had a long career.

...."sob"...."I didn't know that playing football since I was 4, running into groups of other men while being slammed down to the turf thirty times every game, was going to create future physical issues."....."boo hoo".....

Why do you not realize this, were you freakin' stupid to begin with?

Did you think you were going to be paid millions of dollars just to play with a funny shaped rubber ball? Of course it's going to limit you physically, stop whining! My cousin lost his leg in Afghanistan for $1500 a month.

Certain occupations come with risks. Do you ever hear a stunt actor complain, "Wah, I didn't know that driving my car off a cliff and through a ring of fire was going to be dangerous."

2. Change the corporate structure to include profit sharing by the cities that sponsor these teams.

There is a reason the teams begin with the name of a city or region. It increases the pride factor of citizens who then see the team as an extension of their community. This is how the majority of fans are created.

Often, the city or region will dedicate funds directly for the purpose of supporting the franchise. Each city or region should be part owner, in effect, making each citizen a part owner. Why should these franchise owners get exclusive right to the cash that comes in? Why should they get free marketing, traffic control, and sometimes facilities?

3. Return these "Super" Stadiums to the fans.

Cowboy Stadium or AT&T Stadium, or We Don't Give a Rat's Butt About the Fan Stadium should be designed and managed to create a deliberate homefield advantage. Also, they should be far more affordable (SEE #2). They should not be turned into tourist attractions, elite corporate country clubs or neutral fan sites in which opponent fans feel at home. Screw them! That stadium should never be serving Philadelphia cheese steak sandwiches and New York style cheesecake and whatever putrid sewer slop that Commander fans injest. Texas style barbecue and Tex Mex food should be the choices!

4. Allow the fans a major role in deciding who to honor in the Hall of Fame. Include the ex players with special consideration given to the HOFers themselves.

Keep the media out of it, they are not thinking in the best interests of the fans, the players, the game itself or the Hall of Fame. All the media ever thinks about are ways they can make their own opinions more relevant. To them, it's not about choosing the guys who enhanced the game by their performance or role. For the media it's about which selections will give them greater access to increasing their influence. Since Jerry never shuts up, he is a story a day. Put him in despite the fact that the Hall specifically states people who "enhanced the game of football". How does increasing the wealth of the owners enhance the game itself? I can assure you, it doesn't.

5. Force the hypocritical NFL rulers out of the morality business.

Guess what, players are not perfect little angels. They make mistakes, particularly the young ones.

Of course, the high school coach will do everything in his power to minimize the repercussions to the player, a future NFLer is a once in a lifetime cash cow for that coach. The college head Coach will look the other way if it is at all possible, it's all about winning, nothing else matters.

All his life that player has been treated like a demigod, pampered, protected, and told just how special and how different he is. Then he continues to act like it once he gets into the NFL and the brakes get slammed! Well, who do you think is responsible for that mindset? The guy needs counseling and support, not isolation, but Goodall and the owners don't care, it's all about superficial pacification, whatever it takes for the money to keep rolling in so long as they are not held accountable.

Meanwhile. over the past 4-5 seasons:

YouTube shots of Jerry with strippers the age of his grandchildren, drunken rants, and rude obnoxious behavior.

Colts owner Isray arrested for DUI and possession of a controlled substance

Bronco owners's son, who was in executive training at the time, arrested for domestic violence while being drunk and sniffing nitreous oxide, or laughing gas. He is being groomed as the eventual replacement for his father suffering from Alzheimer's.

Chiefs assistant coach Adam Zimmer arrested on a DUI charge.

Jets coach Rex Ryan running a stop light and totaling another vehicle.

Browns owner Jimmy Haslam investigated by the FBI and IRS on potential fraud charges.

Multiple NFL executives asking at least three different prospects about their sexual orientations, potentially violating a number of state discrimination laws.

Chargers head physician David Chao, under investigation for just about everything, being barred from two major San Diego hospitals.

Tell us about those suspensions, Goodall, you bast......ion of moral character.

But these changes will never happen. Why? Well, that is what started this post....remember?

Our loyalty and love for our teams are being used against us.
