The NFL needs to look at receiver gloves

I see point in the league taking a look at these gloves. I'm sure they are already aware of how sticky they are. All receivers have an equal opportunity to wear them so there is no advantaged gained by wearing them that the other team can't obtain for themselves.

If anything, this photo shows how much the gloves actually did. That ball is just about past its tipping point and he has no real support or grip behind the ball. This catch would not have been made barehanded.

I agree that Beckham probably does not catch that pass if he was not wearing those gloves. I also think many others receivers in the NFL would not have caught that pass while wearing those gloves.

Bro, OJ, is what we call him, but to you and everyone else it is OBJ, to family is is Odell Junior(OJ) he does not need the gloves to make those catches.

I don't call him OBJ. I don't appreciate being generalized.

I agree with you about the gloves, it makes dropping the ball difficult. But OBJ's catch was ridiculous - he caught it with 3 fingers. The gloves didn't have much to do with that one.

Great catch in a losing effort....

I've been saying it from day one........

No Gloves = No Catch

And i'm still unimpressed:cool:....the most over hyped catch in the history of the league wearing fly paper gloves. Go figure. Guess the Giants gotta figure out how to sell tickets one way or the other since Eli sucks....And their D has fallen apart.

If Dez made that catch it'd be your sig right now. Get outta here, I hate the Giants but that's the best catch I've ever seen.

Noone doubts it's an incredible catch. But you're deceiving yourself if you don't think the glove helped him make that catch. I laughed when some scientist remarked how he made an "impossible" catch throwing out a whole bunch of variables to lend credence to his statement. All I said was, "did you take the gloves into account?". I mean seriously, those gloves are tacky as heck!

So. It's still impressive. Not too many could catch it with three fingers even with stick 'em gloves.

I hate the Gnats with a thousand burning suns, but that was one hell if a catch. Let's not sit there and say he only made that catch because of mystical cheating gloves. Our rivals have talent on their teams as well as we do. OBJ is an obvious talent. The kid is killing it, but we will be killing the Gnats this 2015 season.

I didn't see anywhere that the OP or anyone else said it wasn't impressive. Something can still be impressive but not be as impressive.

Not sure why so many people in this thread seem to struggle with the concept.

And for the record, I'm in favor of the gloves. I don't want to see guys drop the ball. Maybe body catchers can start wearing that glove material on the torsos so they'll catch the damn thing too.

Because it's splitting hairs, that's why.

It's like seeing a man lift 10,000 pounds and saying, "Well, it's not as impressive as lifting 100,000 pounds."

It's a distinction without a difference.

The catch was a spectacular catch. How many guys wearing gloves do you see making a catch falling backwards grabbing the ball with three fingers?

And what are you comparing as impressive with? As impressive suggests a comparison. It suggests there is a play that is as or more impressive.

Please cite or show a play that is just as impressive as ODB's catch or one you consider to be "as impressive."

Thanks.

It wasn't that hard to figure out, but you're welcome.

What we call him is "another hamstring pull waiting to happen".

If that is the best catch you have ever seen.....then you don't watch alot of football:(

What's hard to figure out is why you're trying to minimize the catch just because it wasn't done with bare hands.

What's hard to figure out is why you're so bent out of shape because many think it was an impressive catch.

You seem to be implying that better catches are so routine someone who watches a lot of football would readily identify such catches.

Since you watch so much football, can you cite a few catches that were better than Odell Beckham's catch?

Thanks.
