If this is true that means, that they may put tony back in for phil game or they may wait till like week 13 or 14,
to then put tony in and let him try and make a SB run.
They would be copying what denver did with manning, but they forget they dont have the denver defense.
Good luck with that.

It does appear Jerry feels that Romo's the answer to a deep playoff run and possibly even more but I think he very likely overestimates what his multi-million dollar man has left in that 36 year old body. 'Good luck with that' is right and it'll very likely take a big helping of luck to bring about what JJ expects to see. I've been a Romo supporter throughout his career, although it seems to me that time has taken a considerable toll on him and his durability as well. In any event, it'll be interesting to see what lies ahead for both of our illustrious QBs. Good luck to them both. I mean that.

Not even Aikman. But remember, that comment came from the guy that said that Weeden threw the most beautiful pass he's ever seen. You can't take anything JJ says at face value...ever.

Jerry's a bit like your pet dog. He lives in the moment.

Poor Romo gets screwed to the last. The guy has been cursed in his career. That being said the team is always more important.

"Cursed" is how I really feel about Romo's career. From the fumble at Seattle, the guy has rarely been able to catch a break despite his prowess as a QB.

I ultimately don't care if Dallas sticks with Dak or turns to Romo this season as long as whichever way the team goes, it puts a ring on Romo's finger. Throw Witten in there, too. Those guys deserve the payoff, just like DeMarcus Ware did.

Of course, there are plenty of other great players in the league who also deserved rings but didn't get them, but I sure would love it for Romo and Witten to be able to retire with one.

Wish we had a week one do over. The Cowboys would kill them. Dec 11th seems like a long way off for the rematch.

Its insane how much they've grown in such a short time. I was at the game and was REALLY hoping for a W. We could have/should have won that. But the situation of starting both a rookie QB and RB in their first game was too much to overcome. Ugh.

The quickest way to a SB is to get Dak as much experience he can get so that next year, and the year following, as we improve this defense, that we are depending on a fully mature young QB and not an over the hill, declining, injury prone one on the downside of his career. Trading Romo would help catapult that goal as well. I see us trading Romo in the off season and helping get that ring possibly in another uniform. At least that would be the prudent thing to do in my mind for both Romo and the team.

The "Dak Attack" is something that other teams are becoming increasingly wary of. He hasn't taken the NFL by storm for no good reason. It's a good bet that opposing defenses are working hard to offset what he brings to the table and bracing themselves for the "Dak Attack" upon entering onto the field of play. It's no accident that the Cowboys are leading the NFL in their numbers of first downs. It's a pretty fair bet that he's definitely getting the attention of our opposition and their defensive coordinators. Just ask Green Bay -- they've seen what happened to the Cincinnati Bengals and probably want to ensure that it doesn't happen to them as well. They may not be frozen in fear but they know what to expect.
The way the offense is running now is a lot like Mississippi State's in the first half of the 2014 season. Great running game, efficient passing, and nasty Oline play. For some reason, the play calling changed and we became a lot more Dak oriented offense, and it ended up costing us. Not that Dak still wasn't great, but I think Mullen became concerned about Dak's Heisman chances. It's nearly impossible for a defense, any defense, to prepare for an offense that can beat you by having short 3rd downs to convert and eating up the clock. Everybody is worried about whether or not Dallas can win in a shootout, and I'm sitting here thinking we may never find out. If Dak passes for 200 yards and Zeke rushes for 100, the Cowboys are going to win most games just due to the lack of opportunities the other team's offense will have to score. Let's hope this is the case Sunday.

In Jerry's defense, Weeden does have some beautiful balls.

Na he just gets DUI's.

I was going to make this same point, just because the unfairness of the implication was so significant, but didn't want to introduce any negativity about Dak. At some point, those of us who really do appreciate what Tony Romo is able to do have to hold the line that it really is ok to appreciate both QBs. About all you can do is keep mentioning that or try to redirect everybody with a well-timed shout out to Brandon Weeden's balls.

I can agree with the part where we need to continue to improve the defense. The quickest way to a Super Bowl with the defense we have, I believe, is with Romo at quarterback if he's healthy. The quickest way to Super Bowls in the future may be depending on a fully mature young QB if he continues on this career trajectory.

That's what I believe, but who really knows? Prescott might continue to show that he's what Dallas needs to compete for the title now or he may come back to earth some. Romo might come back and show that he should call it quits. Or Romo could come back and step the offense up a notch, back to where it was in 2014. I think it's going to be interesting to see.

I'm just happy that we seem for now to have struck it rich at the QB position when the cupboard was bare last year after Romo got hurt.

It really is pretty incredible. Not just at QB, but the whole offense has gotten so much better. And what Dak has done, as quickly as he's done it, has been pretty amazing too. Makes you wonder how much better he will get.

Well, if Elliott had been running like he is now it probably wouldn't have come down to Williams needing to try to get out of bounds. Dak also was just a 55 percent passer in that game. Since then, he's been a 70-plus percent passer, which I'm sure is no coincidence since running the ball well opens things up for the passing game.

I have this bad habit of looking at the other side of the coin, which is why I'm trying to enjoy the moment with Dak instead of getting on the bus many are riding to the Cowboys' future. Other QBs have gotten off to great starts in their careers only to come crashing down.

An obvious example is Robert Griffin III. He had a 102.4 rating his rookie year with 20 TD passes and just 5 interceptions and look where he is now.

Matt Cassel made himself some money when he stepped in for Tom Brady and had an 89.4 rating, completing 63.4 percent of his passes with 21 TD passes and 11 interceptions. He's topped 60 percent as a passer only once since then. (Cassel didn't start until his fourth year, though.)

There are other QBs for a variety of reasons have taken falls and, of course, there are others like Russell Wilson who have been able to build on their first-year accomplishments. I believe Prescott will fall more in line with that, if for no other reason than because of our line and running game, but I'm hesitant to put that much on him.

What we're seeing is certainly an amazing start, but I prefer to sit back and see where it goes from here before getting to the point where some already seem to be. Empirical evidence is the only thing that will tell us what Prescott is going to be, and five games of evidence isn't enough for me to be ready to move on from Romo and go Dak to the Future.

This offense does not need a gun slinging, high TD, high interception QB. It needs a steady QB making the right decisions and leadership and while leaning on the running game. The defense does not need quick strike offense. The offense is humming along absolutely perfectly right now with the team together. It also needs a healthy QB that doesnt make negative plays. Sacks, picks, fumbles, ect....ect..... Never seen anyone better than Dak at that and almost never seen anyone worse than Romo at that. Romo was great when you needed a QB to win you EVERY game with miraculous comebacks. That is NOT what this team needs now.

I'm the same. Though a great argument for not replacing Dak right now is the fact the I'm really unwilling to interrupt his development. It would suck if we made the switch and it somehow stopped some of the crazy progress he's making right now. QBs are funny. There's a chance that could happen.
