I hereby name myself the founder and president of GROTSFIONNTHC: Get Rid of This Stupid Friggin' Idea of Naming Norv Turner Head Coach. It's kind of catchy, IMO.

There are a lot of ESPNish articles being written claiming Norv's the frontrunner. I'm hoping we've got something of an Echo Chamber phenomenon going here, in which everyone's listening to each other say the same thing, using each other as sources. A sourceless circle jerk, if you will.

Either that or JJ really is that stupid...

If we win a Super Bowl, I wonder how many members will be in this club.

Similarily, I wonder how many will exist if we fail to make the Super Bowl.

This is kind of silly. If Norv comes and we win the Super Bowl, of course everyone would be happy with Norv.

Why people are unhappy now is that there are better candidates available.

I hear you guys. If it was up to me, I'd just ROLL THE DICE and make Garrett HC.

But you have to analyze this thing rationally. What's best for this team as it's constructed. Can't just say no to Turner. We must have a HC. If you're saying no to Turner, you have to say yes to someone. Who is that someone?

Wade Phillips, Ron Rivera, Rex Ryan. All are better candidates.

Totally down with the Garrett for HC logic! But, if they are gonna bring in a "mentor" of sorts for Garrett, Norv would fit the bill better than most!

Well I for one do NOT like the idea of Norv Turner as the next HC of the Dallas Cowboys.

But I will say I loathe the idea of yet ANOTHER GRO (insert more initials) here sig lines and titles.

Why would you want Garrett to learn how to be a HC from a complete failure like Norv?

I've made this arguement before. I don't see where Ryan and Rivera are better choices than Garrett. If you consider the coaching experience Garrett had as a 12 year career back up.
All three will be first time HC's. And if you think Garrett's some kind of wonderkid, that's that.
Now if you think he's not ready then I guess it really comes down to Phillips or Turner.

Neither of these potenially hires has me as euphoric as Parcells in 2003.

Why Phillips over Turner?
While you're at it, Why Turner over Philips?

Garrett does not lack moxie or leadership abilities, so I doubt that Norv would be tasked to bring him along in those areas, but instead to round out where he is inexperienced. Norv has always been great at teaching to intelligent people. His offenses can be downright scary when the right personnel is in place (TO/Glenn/Witten will fit his scheme perfectly and he can possibly revive Julius after Parcells ruined him). He is great with Quarterbacks and will help Romo to the next level. He is perfect to round out Garrett's inexperience.

Isn't it somewhat ironic that someone named Mark Brunell is preaching about complete failures?

That's a bit harsh. He has been a very very successful OC.

Sometimes the conditions will not allow a HC to succeed.
I can't imagine conditions were optimal in WASH or OAKLAND.
Who were the QB's he had to work with?

Do you think Pats fans were doin cartwheels over Belicheck off of his Cleveland resume?

Ryan and Rivera have proven track records. We know they can produce at the coordinator position. They're both obvious HC candidates, whereas Garrett is a question mark even at the coordinator position. If we don't get one of them this year, someone will next.

Most likely Garrett isn't a wonderkid. Planning the future of the franchise around that big "if" is nonsense.

Phillips over Turner is an easy one. He's had success at HC where Turner hasn't. He's been more successful as a coordinator than Turner has been as well. Outside of Dallas, Turner hasn't produced either at the OC or HC positions.

like who? and why are they better because u say so? everybody has their own opinion, but only jerry knows what he wants and who u feels is the best person for the job. and alot of "qualified" media people feel the same way about norv.
