Like all of you, I have officially been depressed for the last five and a half hours.. We have waited 9 months to see our Boys back in action.. All the big moves in the offseason, all the hype, and the way we looked dominant in the preseason had built to a climax.. I felt like an 8 year old boy on Christmas Eve all week this week.. The Boys were gonna be back in the Super Bowl this year, I could feel it.. We were gonna take it all this year, I could feel it.. All my Cowboys buddies, family and friends, got together with some pizza, some chips and queso, a bunch of soda, and got ready for kickoff.. Our defense shuts them down after a few plays.. Im excited.. We come out flinging the ball, and I am high fiveing all my buds.. Julius runs for that touchdown and I am literally jumping up and down.. I tell everyone I know that this is our year.. Our defense shuts them down.. We drive down the field and go up 10-0 and look dominant in every phase of the game.. All those months of waiting and waiting were well worth it and made it that much sweeter.. I forget thinking about whether we are gonna win or not and become more concerned with shutting the Jaguars out and how many points my Cowboys players were gonna score for my fantasy team and how many people Roy was going to knock out.. Stars were in my eyes.. All my hopes and wishes and beliefs about this Cowboys team were coming true..

And then bye bye Miss American Pie.. This was the day the music died..

My heart is sunk.. I had plans with friends tonight but I cancelled them because I haven't felt like doing anything.. I didn't turn on the Manning vs. Manning game because I didn't want to watch any football.. I have avoided cowboyszone.com because I didn't want to read about how bad we sucked.. I have been laying in bed for the past few hours just completely bummed out..

But you know what? We are 0-1.. We lost to a 12-4 team on the road by a touchdown.. If we beat the Commanders next week, we will be 1-1 and 1-0 in division play, and we will have the taste of sweet revenge in our mouths.. It's gonna be a really hard week, but it's time to start thinking clearly.. We have a good football team.. We have a really good football team..

And there was plenty of good things out there on the field today.. We've read all the bad stuff, let's hear what we liked about today's game.. It can be something in general or could can be a certain play.. Anything goes.. If nothing else, this should make us feel a bit better cause we will have a bunch of positives laid out for us..

One rule: nothing negative in this thread.. There are 400 other threads for that.. Don't try to be Mr. Funny or Mr. Realist.. This thread is to serve one purpose: seeing some positives in the middle of all the negative chaos.. An oasis in the desert.. I'll start..

1. Roy's interception.. That was a thing of beauty.. He was one on one with a Wide Reciever and he had him blanketed.. Roy's coverage was nice all day, actually, and he had a nice pass breakup earlier in the game as well..

2. McBriar with a 62 yard punt, 66 yard net. One of the best punts I've ever seen.

Good post bro! Also gotta think if the Giants manage to take care of business next weekend, no matter what the Commanders do tomorrow night, if we also win, we'll be tied for 1st.

3. Terrell Owens - Never quit, pumped up his teammates and didn't demand the spotlight during his touchdown by celebrating. I would have hated it if he had celebrated while we were losing, you know that's all we would have heard about. Owens looked great, breaking tackles on almost all the passes he caught and played in every offensive play besides one. He looks to be in good shape, and ready to make a run. I was also impressed as he gave alot of effort into blocking downfield, specifically on that 4th down play where Barber cut back. Let's not forget guys, we've got 15 games left!

3. A lightning-fast 10-0 start that could have even been larger against a damn-good defensive unit.

4. DeMarcus Ware's open field tackling... He's honsetly becoming a pro bowler before our very eyes.

5. The Cowboys are "this" close to being a team that can blow teams out. Yes, this was a very good Jags team. But we could have really, really put them in a hole if we had gone up 17-0. Granted up 17 isn't insurmountable, but panic starts to set in and I doubt we would have been trying to guard against the run had we put Jacksonville in that big of a hole.

10. Ware showed more passing rushing moves in this one game, than I seemed to see all last year, he has really be studying film.

11. Our defense held them to 2.4 yards a carry, this average was tied for #4 in the league. Number 7 overall in the league against the run for the week (total yards).

12. McBriar punting average was 53.2, number 1 in the league for week 1.

There were some very good moments for us in this game. The key is when you get a team down by 10 in their place...Go in for the kill!!! Go for the jugular. We are a young team and a lot of the younger players now know what more it takes to win a game in the NFL.

Spears/Canty/Ferguson looked great. Hatcher is a future pro-bowler in my eyes.

Spears was a mad man out there along with Ware.

Ware is becoming L.T. right before our own eyes. He was playing like a true linebacker. Forget about the sacks for a moment, just focus on all the stops he made as a pure linebacker.

TO is special.

We have a very good pass protecting OLine. Not great, but very good.

Love that punter.
