Just thought with all the hype of the "biggest Jackpot in U.S. history" and since Floyd's "Money" came up on my random list, and playin while im still typin this.....I figured Id start a thread askin how many tickets yall bought? what you would do if you won etc? Also, if you wanna be the killjoy talkin bout odds and whatnot with your nose pointed towards the sky whilst typing feel free, lol......

Anyway, I never play unless it gets ridiculously high like this, I resisted the urge to buy any tickets before Wednesday's drawing.....But when I heard biggest jackpot ever I knew I was buyin some tickets, I only ended up gettin 3 though.....how many yall got?

First thing I'd do if I won is finally get me a Passport, cause me and the Wife are on the first plane to Europe, and we probably wouldnt come back to the States until September, where Cowboys Season tix would be waiting....Im not like most people, I wouldnt buy a huge house and 5 cars.....

I have bought less than 10 lottery tickets(of any variety) in my life, that excludes Dallas Cowboys scratchies of course

Tomorrow, I am going to buy 100 tickets. Ten will have predetermined numbers and 90 quick picks. Wish me luck!

If I win, every active member of the board gets 1k as long as I fail in buying a sports team first.

Seriously though, will have to invest most of it to turn into a cool 2 billion before I really splurge on myself :D

Just here to let you know I'm active :D.

Me and the wife usually play when it hits the 200+ million mark. We bought around $30 worth Wednesday and probably will get another $50 or so tomorrow. We've already decided we would take the installments. We're still young and it would be more than enough each year to work with. We'll talk about what to do with the money after the drawing tomorrow. ;)

In so that @dexternjack knows I'm an active member! Lol

But really, gonna buy like 10 or so. Probably pick 3 and quick pick the others.

I'd buy a bigger house, not a mansion, but something very comfortable. A couple pretty nice cars/trucks. Take care of CLOSE friends and family. Put a nice chunk in a trust fund for my son and daughter that they can't touch until finishing college (Bachelor's Degree minimum). The rest just put in the bank. Travel the world. Live and enjoy a life of leisure!

That or hookers and blow! :muttley:

Odds are 1 in 297 million to win the jackpot.

For comparison you're odds of:

Having an IQ of 190 or greater (1 out of 107 million)
Giving birth to quadruplets, even without the help of fertility treatments - (1 in 729,000)
Being killed by an asteroid strike (1 in 700,000)
Being an American billionaire (1 in 575,097)
Being killed by a lightning strike - (1 in 164,968)
Dieing by drowning (1 in 1,113)
Being the POTUS (1 in 10 million)
Being struck by lightning, while drowning (1 in 183 million)

I think my wife and I would also have to go with payments, I read yesterday (when it was still ONLY at $800 Mill) that after taxes and everything youd get $15 Mill a year for 30 years for a total of $450 Mill or so.....if you take all of it at once, after taxes and everything you get $293 Mill or so......I dont think We could spend $15 Mill a year if we tried lol.....

I find the asteroid strike one hard to believe. Seems like it would be in the billions.
How many people in the last 20 years have died from that?

Lump sum is the right way to go. Do your own investments and you'll end up with more. And if you died, you could pass it on.

You won't need any investments just live off the interest. Bad investments could cost you money.

Your 100 tickets are almost the same as buying 1 ticket, as far as increasing your chances of winning.

Where is your interest going to come from? Your money isn't 100% safe in a bank, as it's only federally insured for 250k. You would likely have to pay for your own insurance to insure your money if you just leave it in a bank. Assuming it's a 2-3% return, which is somewhat generous, you likely won't beat inflation.
