So do we need SD to win or is there still a way we can get the 3rd pick if they lose without the coin flip?

Both SD and we played Miami this season (as others have said), so that game makes no difference, correct?

It's more about not letting San Diego get an extra game on us from a New England victory. They did not play New England this year, but we did. Since Miami played both us and the Chargers, it would be a wash.

wait ,is this true?

Lol I don't know. I'm so confused. Someone above said we could still get into a coin flip situation with the afternoon games. I just want to know if we can get that pick outright.

There is basically two parts to the situation. If the Chargers beat the Broncos, we have the #3 pick, no questions asked.

However, if the Chargers lose, as expected, we can tie them in strength of schedule with a Cardinals victory over the Seahawks AND a Vikings victory over the Packers. This would create a SoS tie with the Chargers, and the two teams would need to flip a coin to see who gets the #3 pick, with each pick in subsequent rounds rotating between the two teams.

If the Charges win then it is definite. Not sure if they lose though. Be best if both the Chargers and 49ers win just avoid tie breakers.

We need someone to answer this. Is there anyway we can jump SD even if they lose? I'm pretty sure we are guaranteed the 3rd pick if SD wins.

We can get to #3 if SD loses, but other things have to happen. We are cemented at 4 as of right now.

I'm just happy we are now guaranteed the 4th pick in the draft.

Agreed. If we have the 3rd and SF wins, they probably cant trade ahead of us for a QB if thats what the Cowboys want.

Cowboys need SD and SF to win

Browns 3-13
Titans 3-13
Cowboys 4-12
Chargers 4-11
49ers 4-11

Jaguars 5-11

If 49ers lose, they'll have 140 combined opponents wins. Dallas currently has 135 and can go as high as 137. So there's no way San Fran can jump us, win or lose.

We'd need Arizona to beat Seattle and Minnesota to beat Green Bay to go to a coin flip with San Diego.
