2 quick observations from yesterdays game.

1) The Playcalling - Many people want to chime in about the playcalling and whether or not we ran the ball too much or not. I am not usually one to complain one way or another. However, the one problem I did notice is that because we ran the ball so much early, it took Romo even longer to get into his rhythm. We all know Romo is a slow starter but because he did not throw many passes early, it took him extra long yesterday to find his groove. It was evident that he found it on that GW drive. I for one liked the pounding of the football, I would just advise Garrett to throw it a bit more early in the game to get Romo going.

2) Romo's Maturation - Many people also want to complain about Romo performance yesterday. Did he play his best game ever? Absolutely not, but guess what? He also did not LOSE the game for this team as he did in years past. The Romo of old would have thrown at least 1 or 2 MORE Int's yesterday by forcing passes late in the game due to frustration and would have lost us the game.

The one play I continue to look back on was the play early/mid 4th quarter when we were down 6-0 in our own territory and Romo had a pretty clean pocket with some time and flung the ball out of bounds towards RWs direction. It appeared like a terrible throw, when in reality this was Romo showing his improved ability to take care of the ball and not force a pass that could have lost us the game. Not to mention the guy did lead us down the field to win the game. Kudos to Tony, I really think he is improving his decision making!

+1,000... I definitely think he is coming into his own on his decision making. I do think he is deing a little conservative with some of his throws (That's just me use to the gun slinger Romo). I guess it's a give and take.

With all due respect, if the Foreskins didn't have butter fingers, Romo WOULD have thrown 2 more INTs in that game. Granted one was tipped, but Romo certainly dodged some bullets yesterday in the turnover department.

...HORRIBLY inaccurate yesterday...he's beginning to remind me of another NFC East quarterback who seem's to go off the reservation from time to time...

That is true,if the Skins make either of those plays it could of changed the game. However that could be said about any game in any given week as well.

From what I saw yesterday this team is a pass first team that is addicted to the big play. There is nothing wrong with running the ball,a team needs to try to maintain some semblance of balance between run and pass.Sometimes that balance is hard to maintain not because of the defense dictating to the offense but rather the game dictating an unbalance. What happens to this team is an untimely penalty, sack or turnover at an inoppurtune time that stalls a drive. That stall is not so much the defense stopping them but rather a game situation dictating their fate.Too many of those "game situations" are the result of stupid mistakes and mental lapses.Bottom line is that it's hard enough to score points against an NFL defense,it's that much harder when your shooting your own foot.

Anyway back to the pass,I think this team is going to have to pass the ball in the neighborhood of 55%-60% of the time early in the game.I seem to remember a stat that Romo didn't start clicking until after the 10th attempt.I also seem to remember that his numbers drop off after the 30th attempt.

Now to the flip side, this team can afford to run the ball more if they can get Felix back into form.If they can get Felix to break a few 20+ yard runs they can relieve some of their "big play" addiction on the ground as well. They just have to somehow get him going.

Anyway, until this team cleans up their act and can play without receiving penalties(esp. procedure penalties) they will struggle to move the ball in a methodical manner.Until then this team has to rely on the big play from the passing game(unless Felix returns to form) and the risks that come with it.
