The only reason we should be upset w/Romo

Haven't seen this yet so I'll toss it out. Romo did not play a bad game IMHO. The botched field goal was a fluke. It happens. The one thing I am a little miffed at old Tony about is once he got up and ran w/the ball he should've dove for at least the first. It seemed like he pulled the ball in when he started going down. It's 4th and 1 1/2 you gotta get that ball extended. If he does we get at least a first down. Buddy of mine I watched it with said he did stick it out there. So we backed it up and he clearly pulled the ball in.

That said. I like Romo I hope he can bounce back. But, you gotta bring in some type of competition next year.

i was thinking the same thing, i thought he shoulda turned STRAIGHT up field he only need 5 feet, you can do that with ONE step pretty much, but its over now...

He was the holder on a field goal. Not only was he about five yards back from the line of scrimmage, he had 10 guys bearing down on him. Between that and the fact that he had to gather the ball up, running straight forward would have gotten him about 1 yard if that. Taking the angle was the smart thing to do, but I do wish he'd taken more of an angle. No point in second-guessing that, though.

Romo had no idea that guy was behind him. He was preparing to deal with the guy in front of him. You could tell the tackle caught him very much off balance and the akwardness prevented the physical coordination necessary to "reach out".

But credit Babineaux as well. Very impressive play by him to never hesitate, hurdle his own downed player akwardly and run Romo down and make a diving tackle at EXACTLY the right time to prevent the 1st down.

There are so many "ifs" to this game its incredible.

Spare me.

Romo played like ****.

He should have destroyed that decimated secondary and he came up like a chump.

Unfortunately, the rest of the losers on this team have rubbed off on Romo.

That's it it a nutt shell. I don't think he realized Babineaux was behind him. If he wasn't we would have had the first at least, if not the score.

Nice to see someone was actually paying attention instead of just saying he should have reached out.

When you botch a snap for the potential game-winning field goal, I happen to think one has a valid reason to be critical/upset with the place-holder.....Romo. He blew it - period.

He is going to dive from the 5? Hes not Reggie Bush..

And what has plagued him all year long is that he cant feel defender pressure that well. If someone is chasing you on the backside , you have to "feel" that pressure. In his case he didnt and I would pay to ask him whether he thought he had it...

Sorry, I thought this thread was about his run AFTER the botched hold.

Excuse my little number of posts but I love this site and just decided recently to become more active on the boards. Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome.

Now my rant...I feel absolutely terrible the way people are treating this "kid"...Romo. For being thrown into this season the way he was... he played better than expected..IMO. He is going to be a good QB. He just needs time. I wake up this morning, after a horrible nights sleep, to pull up espn .com and find..."Bobble 'Boy" as their headline. It made me sick. I then came on here to find quotes like..."he's not our future QB" and "time to find a new answer at QB". This is going to take a long time for him to get over this but the least we can do as COWBOY FANS is stand behind this kid and support him. He did NOT lose the game for us...we should never have been in that situation. We had the game won. Glenn is a vet and made a bigger mistake than Tony. Why not crucify him?

Tony has a new fan with the way he handled himself after the game. He deserves beter. This is only a game. Let's not kill his career...

Keep your head up kid...you're going to be good.

Who cares about what he did AFTER. He was the cause of the "AFTER" to begin with.

"The botched field goal was a fluke." That was in the original post. No need to apologize.

A qb that just botched a snap on a potential game winning field goal in the playoffs, picked the ball up and is trying to out run a db that is faster than him is supposed to "feel" backside pressure? Don't you think he was running as fast as he could? I think Romo thought he could score as well but he wasn't slowing down to start high stepping into the endzone or anything.

There were many causes why this game was lost; His just happened to be the last. If everybody crucifies the kid,we may not even have the opportunity to have this same conversation next year.
