The only thing that ticks me off about the penalty controversy

...is that the story should be Tony Romo led a clutch, game-winning drive, but he's being robbed of that glory because of this absurd story on a non-call both ways with 9 minutes left in the game and the Lions still ahead.

Everyone today should be talking about Romo's clutch, game-winning drive. I couldn't care less what anyone thinks about one non-call. I'm just ticked Romo isn't getting the credit he deserves.

Wins will get him all the credit you want him to have. Most NFL insiders worth anything are already acknowledging his strong play. R-E-L-A-X. Imagine the narrative when he goes head to head and beats everyone's MVP.

Great post! The Lions got a lot of the close calls to stake them to the lead. We got the 50/50 calls on the comeback trail. Honestly....the play caller for Detroit got WAY TOO CUTE on 3rd and 1 during the 2nd half yesterday. With the way they were moving the ball...they really took some bizzare paths to try to pick up 1 yard. And after the call/non call...it was STILL 4th and 1. They CHOSE not to try and get the yard. When faced with 4th down yesterday...we CHOSE to go for it...and WE made it happen...NOT the refs!

Brainpaint, good call about not starting new threads on this. Feel free to just move this post to that thread or to delete it. I just had to get it off my chest, so I'm all good now. Haha

or the fact that the defence-the same defencethat was suppossed to be the worst in nfl history came out and held a team in a playoff game to 3 points in the whole of the 2nd half

I believe the general feeling is that if the flag hadn't been picked up, Detroit would have score another 20 points.

This is what sports center should have been about, not all the silly trash they have been talking about. Give Romo his due, he won in post season.

Had the refs stuck with the call and the Lions won the game many here would be complaining about it today blaming that call for the loss. All FANS would be talking about is how the refs and the NFL are biased against the Cowboys.

I would never complain about this....

All the more reason for him to do it again!

Some media types refuse to show Romo any love so of course they are going to be attracted to the controversy and focus on that rather than show props to Romo.

Doesn't fit the narrative the media ( especially ESPN) wanted to happen, so they will talk more about something they can't change, but feel had the " defining" impact on the game....

I said many would not all. This is a FAN board and FANS saw no penalty there just like some saw no foul on the roughing the punter call earlier in the game. I argued with one FAN during the game chat who thought the refs did the right thing by picking up the flag on the PI call and he felt they should have done the same thing on the roughing the punter call.

That's what you said.

I wouldn't be talking about that. Not when there's clear visual evidence of two penalties on the play.

This is what made me laugh at the Hitchens thread praising his coverage on the play. If you're allowed to do what he did, anyone can cover just about anyone. Especially on an underthrown ball.

It was a bad play and we caught a big break.

I wouldn't. Detroit played a great game. They had a great game plan. I see why their D is ranked where they are.
