Watching Cowboys break from yesterday and Taylor Stern brought up Dak's real name Rayne Dakota. However his mom always intended to call him Dak, he was named a fictional character from one of my favorite cartoons as kid called "The C.O.W boys of Moo Mesa" the character he was named after was called Dakota Dude( a blue bull who was a straight up boss). Thought that was pretty cool story

What's the story on his dad? Wasn't around, passed, or what?
"Prescott and his two older brothers, Tad and Jace, grew up in a trailer park in Princeton, La., about 30 miles from Shreveport. Their parents divorced about the time Dak was starting school. Even though they remained close to their father, Nathaniel, the boys mostly relied on their mom."

There was a Cowboys of Moo Mesa cartoon? I just remember the old arcade game as a kid.

He was named after the Dakota Dude? That's awesome. Did not know that. Knew about his full name, but not that.

Not sure where he is now, but I always saw his dad at games during Dak's senior season at MSU. He's still around although im not sure of Dak's relationship with his dad.

His dad is around. I read an article a few weeks ago that said Dak is a Cowboy fan because his dad is (and his mom became one because they were Dak's favorite). His older brothers were Oilers and Saints fans.

Don't quote me on this, but I want to say Dak's family is part of an Indian Tribe and that is the reason he has smoke and feathers tattooed on his arm. Someone with more knowledge than myself could speak on that.

Someone told me one of his family members is a chief.
