The Philadelphia Eagles

Ahhh... We've seen their offense last year.
No reason to believe Chip changed it.
Only major addition versus the subtractions.
A power running back.

The Eagles are a good team. I think many are underrating them. I have a weird feeling Bradford is going to have a helluva year and Jordan Mathews will be a top 10 WR by years endor close to it.

Having said that, I'm not ascared of them.

I agree with you 100%. People underrate them because they see "oh look at all the changes" but don't realize that they improved at both QB and RB. They did get worse at WR and OL though. But either way - it isn't impossible to beat that offense.

After reading your post, I wondered to myself if they actually did get better at QB and decided to research to see for myself. Here's what I found:

Bradford: Games TD/Game Int/Game Yds/Game Completion Pct (career)

49 1.2 .78 225.8 58.6

Foles: Games TD/Game Int/Game Yds/Game Completion Pct (career)

28 1.64 .61 241.2 61.6

In every meaningful category Foles was better, so I'm a little baffled at Kelly's thought process on that trade. I can only guess that Chip thought Bradford had more upside...not sure.
I didn't post this to argue your point, but rather to see for myself if Philly got the better end of the QB trade. My guess is, especially since he gave up a 2nd rounder for a QB that was one year further into his career, that they came out on the short end of that one. Time will tell.

Note: I had this formatted all pretty, but it didn't post that way...I tried to reformat so it was readable but didn't succeed. Sorry for the jumbled mess.

Good post. Only thing I would say is different is sample, teams and systems. Bradford was in a dumpster fire of an offense for all intents and purposes, whereas FOles has had every reason to succeed. I also think that bradford's accuracy is going to be a very strong assett. But this does give food for thought.

My research was just out of curiosity. My thought was that they were about even, though Bradford has the better pedigree. Another negative that just popped into my head is that I believe Bradford is a much heftier cap hit than Foles would have been. All that said, I think Philly is easily better than St Louis, so Bradford will probably look like the better of the two QB's.

Chip Kelly and the Eagles are fundamentally flawed.

It's like playing Air Force. Yes, their offense is hard to deal with because you never see it, but it eventually implodes on itself.

In the preseason, of course it works, just like the all-out blitz packages of Rex Ryan and what we saw against the 49ers. Whoop-te-do.

A little gameplanning and some bone-crushing hits on Bradford, and then we'll see what they're about.

Dallas can take their heart out in Week 2 if the Cowboys go up there and give 'em a what-for.

I think the Eagles win that week. I see the Cowboys not conditioned yet (guys hurt, not practicing) to keep up that day. Then, they can get them later in year (though Eagles will be coming off a bye and the Cowboys would have just played Seattle.)

First off, the Cowboys have had one of the more physical camps in the league, given the new rules.

If the pass rush resembles what it looks like, Bradford is in trouble.

And if their secondary is as bad a expected, Dez might put three more touchdowns up like he did last year there.

The weakness of the Eagles system, at least to me, is the same as its strength. The pace the offense plays at works out great when your offense is better then the opponents. It actively hurts you if the opponents have a better offense then you do. I think for the Eagles you almost have to look at per drive stats as opposed to raw stats because of the extra series that they both get and give. I think we play very well into them because we are a strong offense who frequently gets more points per drive then they do, ie we make their offense work for us when we have the ball.

Things rarely post in a forum the way they look on the other page.
If you paste it into note pad first , that takes out all the html css stuff, then maybe you can get it to line up here.
Also try the paste button here.

Otherwise you can use printscreen button to capture a image and then post the image here , which will look the way it should.

Chip just wants to outscore other teams, he figures just score more than the other team and you win.
The hurry up offense is supposed to not just wear down defenses but dont give them time to think about what to do.
He also wants good special teams that can score , and that is smart.
ON defense , just stop the other team enough to win.

No way to know if they will be good till we see a few real games, same for cowboys and most other teams.

Bradford, if healthy will be the better QB than Foles. Kelly has a QB friendly system and I think they will a top 2-3 rushing team this year.

Thanks, Dandy. I'm an old fart and not too tech-savvy, so I need all the help I can get! :)

Chip's hurry up offense does tire out defenses on game day, his and the opponents. :D

They downgraded at both positions.
McCoy is better than Murray and Foles is better than Bradford.

No one but Chip games plans in the preseason. He can win in the preseason if he wants, he will never win when it counts. He will always fall short of the big one like he did in college.

Count out the Eagles at your own risk. This year is a 3-way fight for the division. Poor 'skins, lol.

That college offense has got Chip to 10 wins each season. Last year he really defied the odds when it came to victories. I thought they'd have an 8-8 season at best. Teams that improve their win total by five or more games in one season regress an average of 2.7 games the next season 83% of the time. Chip kicked that in the nuts with freaking Sanchez as his QB most of the season. I plan on writing up an Eagles scouting report after this game. I live across the river in South Jersey, might as well, as I'm stuck watching them up here.

damn. It's almost like you know something for a fact. I mean, you've convinced yourself of it so it MUST be true, right?

They leading the Packers in Green Bay 24:0 and that in the first quarter.

It didn't hurt that he took over an Andy Reid team that had been very successful in the past decade.
