The Player to be Cut Tomorrow

It's obvious to me that there are two scenarios being factored.

Either it is one of two players and they haven't decided which one, or it is an injured player and they're trying to determine if they'll offer an injury settlement or not.

Since Grammatica won't kick in the last pre season game and he's injured I suspect he will be the cut tomorrow.

Yup, very likely candidate. He certainly didn't help himself last game.

It's most likely the RB we signed after Battle got hurt, the guy not on our roster on the Cowboys website that has 74 guys on it.:laugh2:

That I hate kickers thing is showing again Hos.

After reading several posters after Saturday's loss, I've concluded the identity of the tenth cut: Tony Romo.

Dallas will then sign Drew Henson, and Jerry Jones and Wade Phillips will immediately strip down to their loin cloths, cover their heads with ashe, and bow down in penitence, thereby placating Golden Homers everywhere.

You saying I have an agenda?

Of course I do, but how dare you say it.

Actually, it's just about who can contribute and who can't that is on the bubble. I feel Grammy was already on the bubble and now he's gone.

I've been calling Folk to win it for a long time now, but with teams always looking at kicker, we may want to hold onto him to the last cut, to maybe get a conditional pick for him.

Plus if we cut him with him on the injury report,we face paying him an injury settlement.

Hos... when you said "The Player" in the thread title, I thought you were referring to T.O.

Thanks for giving me a heart attack! :D

I think that's unlikely. If Grammatica is hurt, they can hold off. Personally I'd rather grammy go on IR. No roster spot. No biting us in the a-- kicking for the Commanders in Nov.

I dont think its gramatica not yet, remember wade phillips said that he is going to try to let him play thursday night.

now i see this happening from what jerry jones said saturday night, that 3 positions that other teams were talking to cowboys about trading for.

next, dallas maybe trying to make a trade for a cornerback too, not a big name player, but someone they think might could help till newman is ready.

so i think some type of trade is coming down, generally the cowboys have beeen known for not making their cuts available till the day after the mandatory cuts. I made a post about the cowboys doing that every year, and took a lot of flack for it, but i feel if other teams make their cuts, you should too, not wait till last minute, keep your fans waiting, and possibly miss out on signing a free agent in those cuts.

there was a report too out of green bay area about us, atlanta and giants possibly trading for one of green bays 2 kickers, i dont see how that would be possible, but they might be worried now that gramatica has a hamstring injury, and we all know how billy cundiff hamstring hurt us one year, best i remember it was his hamstring.

anyway, they might be trying to trade for a kicker, wanting a veteran, with uncertanity of gramatica.

jerry jones did say they will be looking at teams cuts the next 10 days, and possibly bring on a player from one of those cuts, so i think something is going to happen tomorrow in a trade, then cuts some more, or pickup players if they trade certain players,

I would suspect that they would not release Grammatica until after the final preseason game. It is one more shot at making sure Folk is for real before letting the veteran go. If we settled and relased Grammatica and Folk ends up having a Vanderjat kinda melt down we couldn't pick Grammatica up until 6-10 weeks later which would leave us with little to no options.

Either that or the coaches are getting a laugh at the bubble players by making them worry all night :)

Yeah, I think Gramatica goes.

The one missed extra point put the nail in, the 'injury' hammered it. Settlement, a big thank you, and the door.

The Gramatica scenario is logical - but it also might be the case that we are trying to trade a guy like Miles Austin

I'd bet it is not Grammatica: You are going to have Folk do all the kicking in the next game. Why not keep the pressure up on him, by not giving him the assurance that he is 'in'. If he handles it, you can feel a little better about his ability to handle the mostly mental kicking process. I do think that Grammatica goes in the next week though.

That said, the next round of cuts is going to be the toughie. And I bet they are going to be going long at CB and scouring the waiver wire as well. If there was ever a game for an aspiring CB to step up and play well, this next one vs the Vikings is it.

I wouldnt use this game as a barometer of the potential of the corners. Troy Williamson and Sydney Rice pretty much cover themselves.

Arthur Ashe died a number of years ago but I don't believe he was cremated. Great tennis player though...
