My pet pick would be Tavon Austin.

Another Homer pick in Stedman Bailey

Tavon Austin - would add an explosive space player for Romo to get the ball out early to.

I too want TA, but realize it is not likely, .. and SB is not a homer pick BP, he would be a solid choice a little later in the draft. He will be a great NFL WR.

As to the OP, .. Elam would be a great safety, I could definitely get excited about him. He doesn't just tackle, he blows people up.
Probably will get many penalties with the new dumb rules they have created.

He is the most complete safety in the draft. He does blow people up, but could learn to wrap up. He's the best tackler I've seen in a while at safety and I think his instincts are great and will only get better. He's good in coverage and can be coached on weaknesses. He comes from a football family. When I compare him to the other safeties it's not even close. I don't see how so many people hav other safeties ranked higher than him.

Every game is a highlight reel. The most popular highlight reel only scratches teh surface. Every game is a highlight reel for him. He's what Dallas has wanted for so long. I don't see how we can pass him up. I'd even take him at #18 if I had to.

Le'Veon Bell...the next Marshawn Lynch.

Agreed.... LeVeon Bell is going to be an excellent all around RB at the next level. He is a 3 down back because he can pass protect and he catches the ball very well. If we can shore up the o-line and have a 2 headed monster at RB of Murray and Bell we'd finally get somewhere.

To add to this I want either Cooper or Warmack at 18, basically whoever falls to us. I think Warmack will be the one that could be there.

It's his height, it's stupid but true. In the past Dallas has been once of those teams that valued measurable's. That's why I haven't thought Elam was much of an option. I hope I'm wrong I like him alot.

He's a bit short for my taste, too. But I don't think it effects his play much. And his style fits the bit about Kiffin liking quicker players over size. Would you be upset if we took him at 18?

My favourite pick is Jon Cooper. You put him in combination with Costa and Tyron and you have a freakishly fast, athletic and powerful OL to destroy people on screens. Smith and Cooper would be heat seeking missiles out there and we would devastate teams that tried to blitz us by getting out into the flat and then just getting those guys out there to clear out the few defenders who are left to tackle the ballcarrier. It seems like a lesser thing than the short yardage runs but this would really force teams to play us honestly if they really had fear of our ability to burn them on the screen. We haven't been able to do it because we usually have had slothful OL who aren't good in space (Gurode, Flo, Bigg, Colomobo) but the new group that we might have won't have those limitations. It would really open up this offense and give it a dimension we have lacked in years. Cooper is amazing with double teams and then can just fly out and pick off an LB with incredible speed. He is a rare type of interior OL who can be a difference maker because he has power (35 reps with 34 inch arms) and speed. He is also a much better pass blocker than Warmack who struggles with quickness and will probably get eaten alive by guys like Fletcher Cox. I wouldn't cry over Warmack as I still think he'll be a decent pro but I do believe he'd always be a liability in the passing game, screen game and cannot pull out wide to lead the run. If the choice is Warmack I would just prefer we trade back later in the draft and get one of the lower ranked OGs like Alvin Bailey or a center like Schewenke.

After Cooper my next choice would be Sheldon Richardson and then it would be Tavon Austin. If all 3 of my guys are gone I'd try to find a trade down partner because I don't see any of the other guys as immediate difference makers. You can make a case for any of several DLs, OLs, WRs or Safeties later in the draft so I'd just rather have more picks to throw at the problem.

Mostly I want to make sure we get at least one OL, DL and Safety in the first four rounds because the draft is deep in those positions and we have needs there. I'd be okay if we gave up a 4th rounder to grab Cooper and maybe even a 3rd rounder but we can't sacrifice a 2nd rounder again.

DJ Fluker would be my first choice.

Two solid Book end Tackles (Smith & Fluker) for Dallas will go a long way when it comes to getting us to the next step.

DJ Swearinger with the second round pick

Only missed 1 game in his 4 years at Carolina, aggressive not scared to lay the boom or jump a route.

Le'veon Bell or Stepfan Taylor with the 3rd round pick. We haven't had a solid runningback since 22 was lining up back there.

Bell has speed/power
Taylor has speed/shiftiness to make players miss.

I wouldn't be upset with Fluker either, especially if we go OL in round 1.

I'll be upset if we take a safety at 18, I've been begging for a safety for yrs and now I'm saying I don't want to take a safety there....... as bad as we need a safety we need Oline worse.... and I've become somewhat convinced we need DLine more than safety also.

For me Cooper, WARmack, or Fluker will be there and I'd hate to pass on them when I feel this is a really good safety class.

I can see what you're saying. I think we need all of the above. Unfortunately, we can't solve all of those issues in the draft. So we'll have to look towards free agency. In my mind, the easiest fix in free agency is the interior line. I couldn't pass on any of those players on the oline. I particularly like Warmack and Fluker. But Fluker strikes me as the most valuable in the 1st.

Wont get any of em but either Star, Eric Fisher or Lane Johnson. Huge upgrades on both lines.

Never say never. No one though Nicky Fairly would be there when Dallas picked. Same thing with Aaron Rogers. Stranger things have happened.

Dion Jordan, I think he is special and rare being able to rush the passer and play coverage at possibly a high level in the NFL...

There are a lot of guys I like at 18.

Not talking need, but just as prospects. Richardson, Austin, Cooper for example.

I'm not hung up on a particular player as a must have. But I am particularly looking forward to the collective ting of pants when we do not select an OG in round one. I think this board will be hilarious to read at said time.

Yeah, we may not select oline at all in the first. But we have to address it. I've thought the same thing though. In all reality, it makes more sense to draft a tackle, because they're typically more expensive if they're any good. We shall see though. This is one draft I just can't guess. But then again, I suck at guessing these drafts anyway. I would like Austin, but then again, I won't be mad if we don't get him. I just want someone to make our team better and I think the guys you mentioned could do that.
