He'll be 28 later this year. Idk if I'd pay him more than 2 years, probably not. 2 is ok bc he wants some kind of security and I get that, 3 is a little risky imo, 4 or 5 just doesn't seem like a good idea. Especially at 6-8 million. Is he worth 2 years 10-12 million in my eyes? Idk, maybe. But he can probably make more elsewhere and I think it's about time we try and upgrade if at all possible. I think he's what you would expect out of a 3rd draft pick, but I think when you draft a WR from rounds 2-4 you hope they exceed the value of that pick. I think T-Will fits the value more than exceeds it. In that case knowing he probably won't get any or much better I would try someone new maybe even pick someone in that 3rd round range.

4-5 mil for Patterson is a bargain.

Dwayne Harris got a 3.5 mil/year deal for being a ST player only.... Patterson is an All-Pro ST player, would be deadly in the jet sweep scheme, and still has the upside to develop into a starting WR.

the only loss i think dallas has not ever fully recovered from is Ware. Funny thing is he may come back this year...

We have lost important players. murray was a key piece and we have dealt well. twill is very replaceable.

I like T Wills talent, some people might not trust that based on some previous posts. He makes bad descions once in awhile, catches with anything but his hands(I thought he did better last year), and can disappear for stretches, but he's a hard worker. runs decent routes, can make sideline catches with both feet down and the more film and highlites I look at of him, he can block. With that being said...not an 8 mil a year guy, 5 maybe 6, I'd be out of the discusssion at 8. Dez is our 1, Beasley led the team in catches... he's our third option at best

We can get 40-50 catches a year for much cheaper.

Not gonna hate on a guy for getting paid but he shouldn't be too hard to replace in this offense.
Just don't expect Butler to be that guy.

That's more than we wanted to pay Murray two years ago. At that number, he needs to walk.

He's a decent player, but he's completely replaceable.
That's the main thing. He's a good player, he's probably worth 6-7 per year and he fits the team well. He's just not important enough or irreplaceable enough to warrant this team paying that kind of money. Someone can be found in the draft to do what he's asked to do for a fraction of the price and a relatively low pick(3rd-4th).

I saw him in an interview right before the super bowl and he acted like he was coming back to the Cowboys like it was a foregone conclusion. If we pay him $8 million per year the Cowboys staff need their ***** kicked into next week.

6 mil 3 years. He won't go for it so see ya TWILL. Rather draft a guy and look at Josh Gordon only a rehab contract. That won't happen either and probably shouldn't. He won't make it out of 1/2 season without a failed test.

Yea, no thanks.

Go cheaper and younger in the draft.

Yep. He is a solid player but we know his ceiling. Because of this and the fact we have so many other players involved, (Dez, Beasley, Zeke and Witten) we cant afford him at that price.

I agree on Ware, still miss him and so does our defense. If there was ever someone that was quicker off the line of scrimmage, I never saw it. And the way he could just bend while coming of the edge was probably the thing about his play that impressed me the most, that balance. I don't know if he still has all that in him, but I would love to bring him back for a year or two. A few sacks or extra pressure might get him a Cowboys SB ring.

The fact that TW is already familiar with the team and offense as well as Dak is invaluable. The free agent options offer no guaranty of even fitting in.

However, I would go the midpoint on his perceived contract range, 35M for 5 years. I dont know why....I dont know krapp about salary cap strategy.
He's just not familiar with where the sideline is when needed.

there are literally 8-9 guys we can draft this year who can outperform twill with ease.
