It looks like they can get somebody just as good or better in the 3rd round of the draft.$6M isn't outlandish for TW's production.

The lower end sounds doable. 4 yrs 24 million.
If he wants to play hardball there are tons of options in the draft.
That's the main thing. He's a good player, he's probably worth 6-7 per year and he fits the team well. He's just not important enough or irreplaceable enough to warrant this team paying that kind of money. Someone can be found in the draft to do what he's asked to do for a fraction of the price and a relatively low pick(3rd-4th).That's more than we wanted to pay Murray two years ago. At that number, he needs to walk.
He's a decent player, but he's completely replaceable.

I agree on Ware, still miss him and so does our defense. If there was ever someone that was quicker off the line of scrimmage, I never saw it. And the way he could just bend while coming of the edge was probably the thing about his play that impressed me the most, that balance. I don't know if he still has all that in him, but I would love to bring him back for a year or two. A few sacks or extra pressure might get him a Cowboys SB ring.the only loss i think dallas has not ever fully recovered from is Ware. Funny thing is he may come back this year...
We have lost important players. murray was a key piece and we have dealt well. twill is very replaceable.
He's just not familiar with where the sideline is when needed. The fact that TW is already familiar with the team and offense as well as Dak is invaluable. The free agent options offer no guaranty of even fitting in.
However, I would go the midpoint on his perceived contract range, 35M for 5 years. I dont know why....I dont know krapp about salary cap strategy.
