The question everyone is afraid to ask.

Okay, it is not really a question people are afraid of asking. It is just that I am too lazy to go through all these threads and see if the answer is already out there. Does Romo remain the holder on P.A.T.s and FGs?

I would think the punter. Good question though.

He was holding in the second half. Don’t see why it would change.

Because you don't want your starting QB injured by some guy trying to block the kick. Which is why no starting QB in the league does the holding.

Typically, you don't have your starting QB hold on kicks. To much opportunity to get him hurt. The odd broken finger or just an opportunistic HC who sends his FG unit team out to nail the holder. No penalty for roughing on that.

I didn't see a reason to change it during the game the other night, but I figured Bill might make a change now that Romo is the official starter. I hope he remains the holder. He is good at it.

Brad Johson used to be the holder and starter. I don't know if he is still doing that with the Vikings.

Pretty easy to take a cheap shot on him, is probably some of the reasoning.

Exactly. I don't think I've ever seen a holder get injured.

Holders are just as important/more important than the long snapper. Mess with the holder you can mess with the kicker. Keep it the way it is unless you have somebody the kicker is already comfortable with.

I've never seen somebody take a cheap shot at the holder? The point of blocking is nowhere near him.

Only time a holder gets hit is if the play breaks down. And in that case having Romo back there is a good thing.

Bill may do it I just don't think it is a wise ideal when it is not that hard to get someone else to do it. I just would not want to take the risk

The angle thee guys coming in from the wings take would make it easy to nail him, and make it look incidental, if they wanted to. That's just an idea. I have no idea whether or not it's valid.

Who else has held? I know Crayton was the holder in TC his first year. My guess would be Romo holds untill someone else works enough with Vandy that he is comfortable with him.

I think the last time I saw a holder get hurt was the Thanksgiving game in 2002 when the Commanders came to town. The holder was the punter(Barker maybe) who got his nose crushed after a scramble when Dallas blocked a kick.

He had a big, open facemask as well.

McBriar has done it, but I do prefer Romo.

We could see Bledsoe do it. :lmao:

Oh man I remember that, that was nasty.

I would never go onto a football field without a full face mask! Aren't there still a couple a punters with the single bar style? Now thats just asking for pain.
